This will be some headcanons with a nonbinary reader using they/them pronouns and how the team finds out

Warnings: bit of internalized homophobia with Tony, I think that's it though, let me know if I missed something<3

• you were very much open about your identity and pronouns
• that doesn't mean everyone caught on right away
• Bruce and Nat were the first ones
• they both introduce their name and pronouns when meeting someone new
   - Bruce absolutely uses he/they
   - same with Nat and she/they
   - I will not be taking criticism at this time, thank you
• one conversation and they knew
• and were very respectful
• Peter and Wanda were only a bit behind
• someone corrected them in a conversation bc they used the wrong pronoun
• and they fixed their mistake and continue to respect it
• Peter comes up to you later to fact check what he was told
• will immediately plan to drag you to the next pride event
• Stark was a bit more difficult
• and alot more stuck in his ways
• he takes a lot longer to break in
• it's mostly just internalized homophobia
• but he eventually comes around
• it takes a spray bottle nicknamed the "ignorance forbiddence" (all of which was Peter's idea) but Tony gets there
• Clint learned from Nat
• who absolutely smacks him on the back of the head for ever getting it wrong
• then scolds him for not using pronouns as part of his introduction when meeting people (which he fixes)
• Sam realizes belatedly that nobody else is using gendered terms or pronouns for you
   - he didn't either for that matter, but he does that for everyone until he's aware of what the person prefers
• figures it out (sorta) on his own when you based an outfit around the nonbinary flag colors
• is absolutely a trans man, and completely accepting of your identity
• that does not stop him from storming into whatever room you're in to give you an earful
• "AYE! YOU WEREN'T GONNA TELL ME?? I'M YO BEST FRIEND!"
   - even if that isn't true
• Loki is your favorite to talk about the topic with
• they will 1000% tell you all about their experience being genderfluid in different realms
• has all sorts of little tricks and tips they've accumulated over the centuries that they will share with you
• will show you their shape shifting powers and talk about how it helps relieve dysphoria
• will offer to teach you about magic so you can do the same for yourself
• Thor joins in on some of these conversations because he feels left out:(
• just sits back and listens so he can learn more about all of it
• so he can be the best brother around:)
• you had to lay it out for Bucky
• the two of you were in a conversation about getting weird looks from people
• you mentioned people "disagreeing" with your identity didn't make it any easier
• and he was just kinda
• uuuhhhhh h u h ?
• so you went through the whole "I said 'no thank you' to gender" talk
• you look up and see him like
• ??????
• he took a moment to stop bluescreening
• "That's a thing??"
• "Yeah, it's like being transgender but instead of exchanging the sex, you just press 'unsubscribe' and give it to the local gender goblin"
   - Loki suddenly appears like
   - "tis I, the gender goblin"
• you lost Bucky at "transgender" but it's okay! you started him on the right path!
• much studying ensues on his part
• and likely an identity crisis
• Steve was last
• poor steeb
• you had to lay it out for him as well
• with the help of Peter, though
• because Steve had yet to figure out what a bisexual was
• so there was alot more to talk about
• he caught on quicker than you expected once everything was explained
• starts asking really specific questions
• "so it's okay for guys to wear nail polish and dresses?" "Guys can date guys and it's accepted?" "I can date a guy OR a girl?" "More than 1 set of pronouns can be used to describe a person?"
• Steve runs off to tell Bucky and everyone else about everything he just learned
• he's so excited, he's like a puppy
• maybe he talks about bisexuality a little too long
• but the team indulges him as if they didn't already know everything he's saying
• just wait til you teach him about pride month and pride events
• will go feral in the best way possible
