[7]: An Addition to the Ariti Household

"Wait what. No, you're not?"

He gave them a small smile. "To you or Forrest, it might not seem that way, but compared to the rest of Divinia, my skills are laughable. It's like comparing a pool and a tsunami. Young master, I'm afraid...that I won't be able to protect you. Let's say, hypothetically, we do join Forrest on his journey. But before we can even reach King Vine, we encounter an impossible-to-beat enemy. What happens then?" Myles sighed. "And then let's say, if we do manage to survive all our encounters, there's still the final boss at the end; King Vine." The soft sunlight pouring in through the window gave his lilac eyes a glow. "....Young master, are you confident that the three of us will be able to beat him?"

"Nope."

Myles' eyes widened.

"Pardon?"

"Yeah, no. At the moment, there's no way we could beat Vine. But that's only in the present-!" [Name] stood up, turning around to a awestruck Myles. "Five years from now, who knows how strong we'll be? I mean, right now, my swordsmanship is...kinda embarrassing." They held out their palm and constructed a small whirlwind. "And I can barely handle my wind magic. But that's only right now! I'm a hard worker, you should know that Myles. You're always by my side after all. If I keep up my training every day for five years, there's no telling how strong I'll be in the future!" [Name] grinned, clasping their knight's hands. "I already know you're gonna be an absolute beast five years from now, but so will Forrest!"

In the Divinia books, Forrest had trained non-stop for seven years straight - often to the point where he couldn't move for hours because his body ached in pain. And while he told [Name] he wouldn't rely on magic, Forrest was also working on his fire element each and every day - as long as he would train his swordsmanship. The thirteen-year-old protagonist was already a prodigy now, but he was an absolute god in the future. At the end of the series, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say he could match King Vine in a 1v1 match.

"Oh-! And plus!" [Name] grinned "Who says we won't gain any other powerful allies on this journey? I mean Forrest did tell us that he also wanted to travel to Trinae and Vetros before going to Ceir. By the way, I've always wanted to visit the other nations so I'm beyond ecstatic!" Myles' eyes softened and he looked down at their hands, which were still intertwined with his. Suddenly, he squeezed them back. [Name] smiled in surprise at his action.

"So, Myles? What'cha think? Convinced yet?" they gave him a toothy grin.

The knight could only throw back his head and laugh, surprising [Name] in the process. They had never heard Myles laugh this loud before. They stood in place as his laughter slowly died down, and then he looked them in the eye with a smile.

"Alright."

[Name]'s eyes glistened once they heard his response.

"Wait-! So does that mean...?"

"Mmhm~"

Immediately, they threw their arms around Myles, their weight making both of them fall back on the silk sheets.

"!"

"Thank you, Myles!!!" [Name] squeezed him in happiness. The knight's face was soon as red as his hair. He tried to push them off gently but [Name] held on firm.

"Y-young master!" he exclaimed before sighing and giving up. He laid back down and [Name] chuckled at his raspberry-colored cheeks. Suddenly, Myles abruptly sat up, looking them directly in the eyes. "But just so you know, if you slack off during training, I'll take back what I said!"
