lola's point of view
"fuck," i groaned, feeling irritated as i was woken up to the sound of my phone going off.
"what do you want?" i grumbled once the phone was answered, not even having to look at the contact to know who was requesting to facetime me.
"LOLA!" owen screamed into the microphone as soon as i picked up, making me groan again. "lola, baby, angel, it's 8:36 am. our meeting is at 9:30. you know we can't be late. so, you gotta get up, girlfriend." owen said in their normally cheerful voice, and as i looked at the screen i could see they were already dressed.
"it's literally the new year. and i've never been late before. i can sleep in, just this once." i rubbed my eyes as i watched her on my phone screen, and she looked to be dancing even though no music was playing?
i don't know, she's pretty weird. when the lady on the phone told me that'd i'd be having a colleague, i didn't expect the colleague to be a gay 20-year-old girl who was way too interested in disney channel original movies.
definitely no complaints, though.
"baby, listen...i know your one year of meeting that hacker is coming up, so it's okay if you've been feeling a little down." owen shrugged, stopping their dance movements to look at the phone with sincerity.
"owen, how many times do i have to tell you. he's not a real hacker, that's just his name." i couldn't help but laugh, suddenly feeling a bit more awake.
"that's what you think..." they mumbled under their breath, looking to the side. i playfully rolled my eyes and shook my head, "anyway, no, this isn't about vinnie. besides, he has a new girlfriend now, i shouldn't even be thinking about him."
i felt the crack in my heart crack a littlebit more. i still can't believe he has a girlfriend. a girlfriend that isn't me. i mean, we broke up five months ago, so maybe it's my bad for not moving on at the same rate he is. maybe i'm the one in the wrong for not getting in a new relationship.
"okay, fine, i won't grill you on hot-hacker-guy. but, really, you need to get ready for the meeting. i'll be at your place in 30, okay? bye, babe, love you," she made kissy noises to the camera, making me smile.
"bye-bye, love you more," i kissed the camera before hanging up, feeling alot more motivated to get the day started.

"i don't understand why you don't just tell her that you like her." i shook my head as me and owen speed-walked to the meeting room, after listening to them talk about the same girl for 3 minutes.
