Emily pov

Working for the FBI isn't an easy job. Not just because of the long hours, the death, and the challenges that are faced when trying to find and arresting the UNSUB. However one thing that is especially hard is waking up early and the jet lag. Early in the morning I had been called into work because of a new case. Happily it was local l. Meaning I didn't have to travel outside of Georgia and wouldn't have to face jet lag as well. Getting th is case was pretty tricky it's a kidnapping case. Currently heading into the office I see Layla. I look up to Layla quite a bit she is not only a quick thinker but knows how to do her job and doesn't mind my info dumping as much as everyone else on the team calls it.

Matthew: Emily you mind heading down with Derek and talking to the sheriff and the other police down at the station. Layla and I will go talk to the parents and Gavin will stay here and do some digging. Gavin make sure you have the cars licenses ready to be pulled up. We don't have a lot of time to waste if we want to get this little girl back to her family.

At the station

Layla: hello I am agent Layla and this is Dr.Emily Scott we're with the FBI BAU. Nice to meet you wish it could be under better circumstances but nice to me you.

Sheriff Holt: lovely to meet you agent Layla Dr.Scott glad you could come just let us know what you all need and we'll be here to assist.

Layla: actually could you gather you're officers around in the briefing room while we give the profile.

Sheriff Holt: will do.

TIME SKIP/ BRIEFING ROOM

Layla: hello everyone I'm agent Layla Mills and this is...
She waves her hand at me to continue

Me: uhmm I-I am Dr.Emily Scott Qere here with the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). The UNSUB were looking for us a female early to late thirties and she would most likely the pretty open and outgoing. Mostly with people who are parents to little girls that are 10 years old to fit her kidnapping style.

Officer: why that specific age

Me: she most likely lost her own daughter at birth and she would be at the age of ten or she lost her daughter at the age of ten and is trying to fill that void with others. Based on the body that was found of her past victim there were no signs of sexual assault only bruising most likely from being tied up and beaten.

Officer: why beaten if she wanted to fill the void of her lost child

Layla: Most likely because she wanted them to play the role of her deceased daughter and they didn't play the role accordingly. Having said that we will need parole officers to be by parks and schools monitoring those spots regularly. However don't make it suspicious she is most likely to act out and kill from being pressured.

Sheriff Holt: ok officer Rick Grimes and Shane Walsh you both will accompany Dr. Scott here with helping look through files and officer Trever Well and Andrew Waid will go with agent Mills to look at the last crime scene where the body was dumped.

Shane and Rick : will do sir

Me: umm s-sir you don't happen to have different colored expos and a white board do you?

Holt: yes we'll get that to you shortly.

Time skip 2 hours of going through files

I was currently looking at the last two locations of the crime scenes and mapping it with the area of the abduction sites to get a clearer idea of where the location of the little girl is. My thoughts were then interrupted by one of the two officers break my train of thought.

Shane: so what exactly are you doing with that white board wouldn't it be easier by computer.

Me: I-I uhmm well yes doing by computer would be quick but I find it easier to calculate and do it by hand for a quicker result. Now if you look this is where the first abduction was and this is where the body was approximately 10 miles away exact from each other. Same with the second one which was here and here. Now correlations the direction, time of abduction, and extra activity by others it would lead between here or here. However looking at it both lead to secluded rivers on opposite sides.

I call Gavin

Me: hey Gavin can you pull up who owns the chestnut river and willow creak river?

Gavin: it saddens how much you doubt me. Ok chestnut owned by a married couple and there son the Marks family and willow creak river is owned by Mary Gilbert. Woah listen to this she had been a married woman with her daughter Eliza however they all got in a car crash about 8 years ago she was the only survivor.
Me: Gavin how old was the daughter
Gavin whispers: 10
Me: where does she live send the directions and notify the team we need to move out now

Officer Shane, Grimes, and I run to the car and we head over to the house. Once we get there I put on my FBI vest and head to Sheriff Holt and Layla.

Me: she armed
Holt: yes she's got a knife but that's about it we need to go in there and distract her get her to loose focus on the girl.
Me: ok I'll go front you go back
We head to our locations on the house I knock on the door
Me: Mary Gilbert I'm Dr. Emily Scott with the FBI I'm coming in ok.
I head in and got to the living room seeing her with the knife on the girls throat.
Me: hey Mary how are you
Mary: just fine now get out you can't take my baby from me not again
Me: Mary I need you to listen to me very carefully this isn't your little girl this little girl is named Mackenzie Anderson but that's not what I'm here to talk about. You're little girl Lilly she loved you and she still loves you and she doesn't want you to do this. Why don't you just put the knife down and we walk out of here and I'll take you to see her alright.

Mary lowers the knife
Mary: you promise

Me: yea I swear I'll take you to see your little girl but if and only if you lower that knife and let Mackenzie go.
She lets go of Mackenzie and she runs over to me Layla comes behind Mary and arrests her we all head out and I see Mackenzie's parents running to us
Her mom: MAKENZIE
They all hug and say thanks then leave. I walk over to holt who is putting Mary in the car.
Me: Hey sheriff Holt, make sure before she goes you take her to her daughters grave. Let her say one last goodbye before she's locked away.
Sherif Holt: will do
Shane: you know for a doctor you look pretty young
Me: there are PHD's three of them.
Shane: we'll look at you miss genius
Me: I-I don't believe intellectual knowledge can be accurately quantified but I do have an IQ of 187, eidetic memory, and can read 20,000 words per minute
I say and look at them both with shacked expressions
Me: uhh yes I'm genius umm it was nice meeting you both despite the you know kidnapping case
I say with a nervous chuckle rubbing the back of my head
Rick: agreed but hey it ended off on a good note maybe we'll all see each other again some day have some drinks
Shane: only if you're buying he says laughing
Me: I'm not much of a drinker but will join could be fun uhh let me give you my number
I give them my number
Me: well I should get going we have lots of paper work to do back at the office.
Shane: have fun don't forget DRINKS
Me: wouldn't miss it

Little did I know I would miss it for the next week the world ended.
