"John –"

The doctor was about to announce his name, but there, lye a helpless mother. The screams of a child being brought into this world. The year is 2322 – July 4th to be exact, you'd think this sort of thing would not happen still, but unfortunately people are mistaken.

The sounds of a beatless and heartless Mother – the silence, the monitor flatline echoing the room, nurses scramble to revive this woman and with no father in sight. If this woman dies on the table, this child will be parentless – what will happen to him?

"1....2...."

The nurses scramble with the defibrillator and shock the mother, praying and hoping for some kind of heartbeat, a positive response; but there, she lye lifeless.

"1......2......"

Another shock to the body, it seems as if the equipment failed them, yet again. Calling the time and date of this death, another helpless victim lye lifeless to birth complications. The mother did not have it easy, and they all knew it. Maybe this was her time and her body, officially giving up. Staying on bedrest for almost the entire pregnancy, would not be easy for anyone. Everyone involved in this pregnancy, knew it was risky, including the mother. With the technology we have today, they thought they were able to save her in time and yet, things aren't always what it seems. She had the option to abort, but she knew this baby was born for something bigger than life – certainly, her own life as well.

"We're calling it – July 4th, 2322, at 3:33am"

The Doctor looked at his watch and sadly covered the lifeless body, a thin white sheet covering her body, blood-stained underneath. The baby was grabbed afterwards, to be cleaned up and wrapped in a blanket, another baby subjected to having no parents, due to no fault of his own. Sometimes things like this happen, but at what cost? Why do these things happen to the innocent? Instead of being put in his mother's arms – his mother's warmth and embrace, he is put into a cold and plastic temporary holder, until they can figure out what they can do with him.

John had blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes; it would be hard to not be mesmerized in them. John was one of the few babies within the past century to be born with this colored hair and eyes, it was definitely something excited to see and he was already unique in his own way. Approximately an hour after he was born, a woman with long blonde hair and a black suit walked in, obviously knowing the doctor and his staff – but who was she?

"Do we have another?" The unknown woman's heels clicked, echoing the room as she walked into the nursery to see the baby known as John, she picked him up and brought him to her chest, eventually rocking him to sleep with the motion.

"Yes, Ma'am". The nurse nodded and handed over the child's paperwork with a syringe filled with a strange colored substance, looking over at the newborn with sympathetic eyes – she knew what was coming and was nervous at the outcome.

Before she could react, the unknown woman injected the newborn with this substance, the body soaking up anything and everything of the new liquids. Baby screams fill the room momentarily, before the woman walks away with the child.

"You are about to become the next best thing, John..."
