Chapter 5
It's been three days since I last saw Tristan outside the school's kitchen area. After seeing how those girls from the other section stalked him the other day, I promised myself not to spy on the prince. I am curious about his life but I should show my respect to the man and leave him be. Yup, I should.
"Hey, Rika!" I shrugged my shoulder in fright when he called my name.
Speak of the devil!
"Y-yeah?"
Why am I stuttering!? Don't embarrass yourself, Rika! Especially not in front of the prince.
"Sorry for calling you out of the blue. Did I startle you?"
Duh! You gave me a fright!
"No, it's okay!" I reassured him. Keep your calm. You can do it, girl!
"I was just wondering... are you free this Saturday afternoon?"
"Why?" Oh my God. Where is this conversation leading to?
"For our English project. I know the deadline's still far but I was thinking of finishing it earlier. I'm going to be busier next month so I don't have time for it anymore and I don't want to leave you with all the work."
Huh? Uhmmm... Answer, Rika! "Sure! No problem... Uhm. Where?"
"Do you know a good place where we can concentrate on the plot of our story?"
Place? Like I know any good place to write! I am no writer!
"O-okay! I'll look for a good place." Time, Rika! Ask him what time! "What time?"
"2:30?"
I quickly nodded my head. I can't say a thing anymore!
"Cool." He paused, his face dead serious but still gorgeous. "Can I ask you something?"
What now!?
"Sure. What is it?"
He sighed and smiled sweetly.
"Nothing. Let's meet at Bo's." He starts to walk but stopped gracefully. "Thanks, Rika!"
And off he goes. I looked at my shaking hands. My mind's on a topsy-turvy state.
What were we talking about? I was totally panicking I forgot what he said. Uhmmm... What was it? I swiftly brought my cellphone out of my pocket and wrote a sticky note:
Sat, 1:30pm - English Project with Tristan
Gosh, what's with me. Am I red? Please tell me I'm not red! Am I blushing? Am I blushing because Mysterious Prince just smiled at me? Never in a million years!
I went to the waiting area. My hands are still shaking. I could hear the loud beating of my heart. It's as if I had just finished leading a prayer in front of a large number of people.
A good place huh? I don't know any. I think I should ask mom.
"A good place to write a story? My! What struck you to begin such a hobby?" Mom exclaimed.
"Ah. No. It's for our English project."
"Oh..." She nodded her head. I can see a hint of displeasure in her eyes. "You can just go to any cafe in town. I know a good place where you can see the view of the whole city. I can take you from our house. Since tomorrow's a holiday, it may be a good time to pick up your pen and write. "
It was already night. Since Sir Gale is unavailable today, mom picked me up at school. I hate the atmosphere when I am alone with her, it's just so... awkward.
"I'll be writing with a classmate. You see, our project's gonna be by pair."
Her face lightened up. "Oh! Why didn't you say so?"
"And I was hoping the place is not that expensive..."
"Oh honey, I will be footing the bill, not you. And besides, I want you and your friend to have the best experience as... who knows? Future writers?"
I hate that grin. Such a showoff and a dreamer!
"What time will you be meeting tomorrow?"
"Not tomorrow. On Saturday, 1:30pm."
"But if you'll only start writing on Saturday, when will you finish?"
"It's okay. We still got a lot of time. Deadline's the month after next."
"I can't believe you suddenly became this responsible! I think I'm trusting your school already."
Really? It's been two years and you still do not like my school?
"By the way, who is this friend of yours whom you'll be partnering with?"
"Tristan"
The sound of the tires came screaming as mom pushed the car brakes really hard. Woah. Good thing I buckled up.
"YOU ARE GOING OUT WITH A GUY!?"
I looked down. I've never seen her so furious in my entire life. Did I press a button or something?
"Are you both dating?"
Oh my God, her serious face!
"No. It's just for the project."
"It's the house then! Who knows what you'll be doing alone in a fancy cafe in the middle of the town!"
She suddenly speeded up the gears. Is this how mom drives when she's angry? I hope she's still sane. I'm beginning to show mistrust on her driving skills.
