You don't deserve pretty things
You're not worth the effort
I can't believe I gave birth to you
Wow, you're ugly
You look like a pig
Hey mop hair
You bit your lip as hateful comments were thrown at you
Ew, have you looked at yourself? The voice snickered
"Stop" you mumbled quietly, raising your hands and covering your ears in a futile attempt to block out the noises
They didn't get quieter they got even louder
"Stop"
Louder
"Stop!"
Louder!
"STOP!!"
LOUDER!!-
"STOP!" You shouted, jerking up into a sitting position
You looked around your surroundings while breathing heavily
'It's just a dream' You repeated mentally, slowly calming down
"It's just a dream.." You murmured, aggressively rubbing your face in an attempt to wake your body faster
You lightly tapped your cheek before hopping off your bed
You slipped into your comfy slippers and walked towards your window, you slowly pulled your curtain open
The bright daylight blinding your eyes
"Ugh I hate mornings" You muttered as you squinted your eyes, you weren't like the others, you were different...They don't understand you, of course, they wouldn't, they wouldn't waste their time understanding someone so different
You sighed and opened the window then sauntered back to your bed and flopped face-first into the mattress
- - - - - - - - - -
You slowly opened your eyes and rose into a sitting position
'Oh, I must've fallen back to sleep' You thought, going to stand up but stop when you saw something bright orange in your peripheral vision
You snapped your head to look at the thing before realizing it was just a butterfly
You reached a hand out to grip at your sheets instinctively, not out of fear, just instinctively
"Hi.." You greeted the butterfly that was sitting on your desk lamp like it was gonna greet you back
The butterfly sat unmoving, its wing gently ruffling from the wind
You bit your lip as you released your grip on the bedsheets and slowly moved to the edge of the bed
"My name is Reader" You introduced yourself, smiling slightly before standing up
"You have such nice amber-orange wings" You praised it, stalking slowly towards the creature
When you were in arms reach, the butterfly flew away to a different location in your room
You looked at the butterfly as it rested on your pillows
You looked for a glass container around your room and spotted the empty cookie jar at your desk
You took the cookie jar in your hands and jogged over to the window, you opened the jar and shook all the crumbs out of the jar before closing the window slightly
"I've always wished for a butterfly as a pet" You quietly mumbled, eyeing the butterfly carefully
"And now, that wish might have a possibility to come true, if you cooperate"
You stilled for a moment before jumping in and successfully caging the butterfly in the jar
The butterfly flapped its wing in distress
You smiled widely, sealing the jar quickly and putting it on your bedside table
"Welcome home, precious"
