All the clans gathered on top of Prayer hill. The place we went to turn into our wolves and howl at the moon before hunting. We picked our groups and it was a competition on who could catch the best prey. I always sucked at these and no one ever wanted me on their team because I had no idea what I was doing, considering I hardly ever went out to hunt. Another reason to hate me, I guess. My eyes scanned around for my brother once again, and as my eyes landed on him, I smiled widely, ready to jog to him.

He was already paired up with a group of she-wolves from the Wind Chaser, and it made me stop in my track and scowl. I was going to let it go, but the fact that he was thinking with his dick irritated me. Fuck boy. The thought fell out my head and into his with our mind link. Something only wolves in the same pack can use to communicate with each other. If you concentrate, you can use the mind link with only one other wolf so you're not broadcasting it to the entire pack.

Silas swiveled his head around, looking for me before his gaze met mine. He quickly flipped me the bird and turned back around to the pretty girls, and my bottom lip pushed out in a pout. He was completely free to do what he wants, but it's a little hurtful when I was left behind. Specifically for the hunt, because he knew the issues I have with it and I'm probably going to have to hunt alone.

As if I spoke out loud, Trella came bouncing up next to me, looping her arm through mine. "Do you have a team?"

If I wasn't in shock from her asking, I might've cried. It makes sense that she would want me on her team, considering we haven't hunted together yet. She has no idea what she's getting herself into, and I'm going to screw up and make her team lose. "No, not yet." I didn't have in me to tell her how much of a nuisance I was when it came to this, I was too happy to be welcomed.

"Cool, you can be on my team." She started dragging me farther down the hill, to were a group of Devine's stood. A random Onyx member was in there too, and so I didn't feel too much of an outcast.

"Awh, you picked Astrid? Did you want to lose?" one of the Divines grunted and threw his hands up in defeat and I recognized him as Riley. An absolute asshole with no regards to anyone's feelings, and this wasn't my first encounter with him.

The comment made me slightly embarrassed and I stopped in my tracks, looking down at the ground in shame, "You know, maybe this isn't the best idea-"

"Piss off Riley, it's a good thing I didn't ask you for an opinion, huh?" The fiery red head snapped, causing Riley to shrink back suddenly at her words.

Her standing up for me felt amazing. I only had my brother on my side most of the time, and now I felt like I had an actual friend. It was a bummer that she's in a different clan, I feel like we could've been able to be best friends. My feet continued to allow her to drag me the rest of the way, and only then did a comforting smell wash over me.

Oh, you're joking. Atlas was standing just barely in the tree line, the only thing showing was his glowing crystal eyes and maybe part of his forearms that were crossed over his chest. Normally, looking an Alpha in the eyes for a long period of time was considered challenging, but he must've made an exception for me, because this was the second time I held eye contact. The feeling wasn't as strong as before, but it was still enough to make me weak in the knees, and I bowed my head softly to him. No other emotion was visible on his face, but his eyes flashed suddenly with something, before it was gone again. It looked a little puzzled, and maybe a little bit of curiosity. "We are waiting for Itri." Trella murmured to me, a small smile playing on her lips like she was trying to ease the tension building in me.

Itri was their Beta. I had seen him around for a few years and this was his first year as a Beta. He took over after their old Alpha and passed, and no one from the other clans knew what happened to the last Beta. Maybe that's why everyone was so suspicious of their pack... two people died and they refused to disclose what truly happened. "I'm not in any hurry." I smiled back.
