Chapter 33: The Premiere

Start from the beginning

"This is fucking libel- no, wait. Libel is only if it's printed. This is defamation! I swear on god that if you don't remove-"

Tears you couldn't control beginning to stream down your face. As soon as you moved it seemed the rest of your friends were removed from their trance.
"What the hell was that?" Brienne spat, "Does she just think she can edit whatever shit she wants together and air it? The fucking balls on that woman to do this to the worlds top hero. To you! Oh, I am so posting about this online. She fucking thinks she can get away with it she has another things coming."
"It's okay, kiddo." Your mom tried to soothe you, "We all know the truth. No one is going to believe what she said. This says more about her character than yours."
Camilla snagged the empty bottle of wine from your hands and replaced it with the one she'd take from Saffron moments ago. "Don't worry. Saff will take care of it. Damage control is her specialty!"
You took a long, long drink of wine and leaned back into the couch, making no sound but crying all the same.
"I'm going to the studio." Toshinori finally spoke up. "No one can say that about someone I care about without facing repercussions. Even if Saffron takes care of it, someone needs to confront that company about what they've done."
"I'll come with you!" Brienne furrowed her brows and punched her own palm. "Talk shit get hit."
Normally you'd tell them not to worry about it, not to cause a fuss on your behalf, but you weren't entirely sure about what you were going to do. If they did nothing it would completely tarnish your life, but even if they did confront her and do the best damage control they could there was no guarantee that peoples minds would be changed. Some damage was irreparable.
You took another drink from the bottle and shrugged, entirely unsure of what to do.
"Oh, honey." Your mom pouted and pulled you into her arms. This only served to make the crying worse, but it felt nice to have her there for you.
"Don't worry, (y/N). I'll take care of this." All Might stood from the couch, not even hesitating as he headed towards the door.
"Hold your fucking horses, Toshinori. I'm going with you." Saffron trailed behind him, the stomp in her steps rattling the pictures on the walls.
"I should probably go to make sure those two don't get in trouble..." Camilla leapt off her seat to follow them.
"I can't even fucking believe she would air something like that. The editing was so fake it was obvious that it wasn't what you were saying. I wasn't there and even I could tell it was fake!" Brienne growled as she rifled through Toshinoris cupboards in search of more alcohol. Her hands landed on a bottle of champagne that Saffron had brought to celebrate, but seemed fine enough as a consolation prize too. She then gathered up every snack she could find in your boyfriends health nut pantry, and some from his not-so-secret sweets drawer.
She poured them on top of you in offering and made space next to you on the couch.
"Scooch over- I mean who is she fucking kidding? I can't stand people like that. What does she have to gain by making you look bad? Nothing other than five extra minutes of people talking about her interview. I can totally see it on her face. She's just being petty. She's just jealous of your relationship. Well, I bet Saff and All Might can be much more petty. I can't wait to hear how they shake her up. They will totally-"
"Brienne, I think that's enough." Your mom cut it, helping you scoop the snacks from your lap and on to the coffee table. "Swearing and cursing won't make (Y/N) feel any better."
"It might..." You grumble after another sip of wine.
"It's gonna be okay, (Y/N)" Your mother hugged you tightly once again. "There's nothing we can do right now, so we'll just take our minds off of it until Saffron and All Might can do damage control."
"I trust them..." Brienne sighed and ripped into the first snack she saw on the table, "But if they don't get it done I've got a dozen eggs about to spoil at home."
"I told you to throw those out!" Your mom exclaimed.
"I will! I will! As soon as I make sure we don't need them."
"Its a tempting idea..." You sniff and wipe your eyes with the back of your hand.
"You girls are ridiculous." Your mom laughed, "For now, lets just get your mind off of everything until they get back. If that doesn't work then we'll go and get the rotten eggs."
"Sounds like a plan to me." Brienne settled into the couch and grabbed the remote.
"No TV!" Your mom chastised her and made a grab at the remote.
"Just a movie! I'm not turning on the news." She held the remote out of her reach and did as she promised, turning on an older movie you used to watch as teenagers.
"Oh my god! I totally forgot about this movie!" You smiled for the first time in what seemed like hours.
"You did?? I feel betrayed. Don't you remember the time we had watched this so many times in a row we fell asleep to it?"
"And then we woke up to the dvd menu playing on loop and we were both too lazy to turn it off."
"So we listened to it all night!" Brienne laughed.
"I still can't hear that song without getting a headache," Your mother laughed.
"I can't believe I forgot about this movie." You grabbed a snack off the table and peeled back the wrapper without looking to see what it was.
"You can't turn your back on the classics, (Y/N). You're required by law to watch this movie at least once a year since you're my friend and I doubt you watched it while you were gone so we've got some catching up to do."
"How was I supposed to watch it in an underwater cave?"
"I dunno. Water proof dvd player?"
"Ew. Don't even say that word." Your mom interjected.
"DVD player?" You asked.
"No, underwater cave. The thought of those give me the heebie-jeebies."
"It's not that bad," You argued. "Just don't go into the creepy ones."
"All of them are creepy in my opinion. Now are we going to watch this stupid movie or not?"
"Stupid?" Brienne fake gasped, "This movie i-"
Before she could fake argue with your mom, the elevator door pinged and slowly opened. You whipped around to see if Toshinori was back that quickly, but instead Akemi stood in his place, grocery bags in hand.
"Oh, hey Akemi!" You greeted him awkwardly.
"Hey, (Y/N). Sorry I'm late. My train got delayed. I saw what happened on the news... I can't believe they'd lie like that! I was in the neighborhood so I brought some more snacks. Are you doing okay?"
"Hell yeah! More snacks!" Brienne cheered and reached over the couch to take them from his hands and dump them into the pile.
"I'm alright," You half smiled, grateful that he didn't believe what he'd seen on TV. "Trying not to think about it too much."
"Did Saff and All Might leave to take care of it?" He asked.
"They did."
"You're in good hands then. I'm sure by tomorrow this will all blow over."
"Probably. It just sucks, you know?"
"I know- well, I don't know because I've never been in this situation before, but I can empathize."
"(Y/N), are you going to introduce us to the guy who brought us a shit ton of snacks or not?" Brienne eyed him up and down, a gleam in her eye that you knew way to well at this point.
"Oh, sorry. This is Akemi. Akemi, this is my mom and Brienne."
"Nice to meet you." He smiled at both of them politely. "I didn't mean to interrupt what you were doing, I just thought you might need a little pick me up. I'll get going."
"You should stay!" You protested, touched by how unwaveringly kind and thoughtful Akemi always was. "We were just about to watch a movie."
"The best movie of all time," Brienne reminded you.
"Right, the best movie of all time." You smiled, "Plus, you brought all these snacks so it only seems fair that you eat some of them too before Bri pounds them all."
"I'm limiting myself!" She argued.
