Victor noticed a piano next to him, and played a note. He looked up to see if anyone heard him, but they had all gone into another room.

Victor started to play more notes on the piano. He sat down and began to play a beautiful song, not noticing Victoria watching him from the stairway. She slowly came up beside him and he jumped up when he noticed her standing there.

"Oh! Oh!"

He knocked over the piano bench in shock and almost knocked over a small vase that sat on top of the piano, but caught it.

"Do forgive me." He apologized.

"You play beautifully." Victoria complimented him.

"I-I-I do apologize Miss Everglot. How rude of me to...Well...Excuse me." Victor lifted the piano bench back up.

Victor looked up at the woman with awe. She was very beautiful.

"Mother won't let me near the piano. Music is improper for a young lady. 'Too passionate' she says." Victoria continued.

She seemed very kind at least. Not like her parents. Perhaps this marriage wouldn't be so bad.

"If I may ask, M-Miss (Y/n), where is your chaperone?" Victor wondered.

"Oh! Oh, I'm not (Y/n). I'm her younger sister Victoria." She quickly explained.

"Oh! I'm so sorry Miss Everglot! I didn't know Miss (Y/n) had a younger sister." Victor apologized.

"Oh, it's quite alright. You couldn't have known. Um...perhaps, in light of the circumstances, you could call me Victoria?" She asked.

"Heh, yes of course. Victoria."

"Yes, Victor?"

"Tomorrow, your sister and I will be...m...mmm..." Victor struggled to get the word out.

"Married." Victoria finished for him, and Victor nodded.

"Since I was a child I've dreamt of my wedding day. I always hoped to find someone I was deeply in love with. Someone to spend the rest of my life with. Silly, isn't it?" She asked, sitting down at the piano.

"Yes, silly. Ha." Victor agreed, then he realized what he said. "No! No, not at all, no."

Victor sat down next to her and rested his elbow on top of the piano, knocking the little vase over. The water and the small flower in it spilled out.

"Oh! Oh, dear. I'm sorry." Victor apologized.

Victoria picked up the flower and sniffed it before she smiled and handed it to Victor, who took it. The two stared into each other's eyes, before they were interrupted.

"Oh! Hello. I'm sorry I didn't realize you were already here." A voice came from the stairs.

The two turned and saw (Y/n) descending down the stairs.

"You must be Victor." (Y/n) said.

"Uh...yes, I am. And I assume you must be Miss (Y/n)?"

"Yes. It's nice to meet you."

"I-It's a pleasure to meet you as well."

"I'm sorry I kept you waiting." (Y/n) apologized.

"Oh, no. It's quite alright. I was just getting acquainted with your sister, Victoria." Victor told her.

"Yes. Victor is a wonderful piano player." Victoria added awkwardly.

The three stood there for a moment in silence, before Victoria cleared her throat. "Well, I suppose I'll leave you alone to get acquainted with your future...husband."

Victoria kissed her sister's cheek before scurrying off. Victor couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed that she wasn't going to stay longer, as he watched her go.

"Your sister is very nice." Victor said, turning back to face (Y/n).

"Oh yes. I adore her." (Y/n) answered.

The two stood there, awkwardly looking around the room.

"Um...I hope you had no trouble getting here?" (Y/n) spoke up.

"Uh, no. Not at all." Victor replied.

"Good, good."

Another lengthy pause.

"Um...I'm sorry." (Y/n) apologized.

Victor looked at her, shocked. "Why, whatever for?"

"Well, I know that marrying a stranger probably isn't what you had in mind for your future."

"Uh...well, no. But you probably didn't have it in mind either." Victor added.

(Y/n) hummed and smiled at him and he smiled back. He at least seemed nice. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all?"

"What impropriety is this?!" A voice shrieked.

The two turned and saw (Y/n)'s mother standing in the doorway.

"You shouldn't be alone together. Here it is, one minute before 5, and you're not at the rehearsal. Pastor Galswells is waiting. Come at once." She scolded.
