There I was at class, high school another day.
I honestly hated school, ever since the 5th grade. Ever since my parents got a divorce, it seems my friends betrayed me, and bullies started to appear. My life has changed a lot, but there was one thing keeping me alive and it was her. Maria Mars the most popular and rich girl in school. Her perfect brown hair, blue eyes, and Italian, but there would be no way she would go out with an “emo kid” as people label me just because of how I look and what kind of music I listen to.
It was lunch right now. I was in line with my only 2 friends Felix and James. While we were in line for food they were talking about that I should ask Maria out on a date, I just ignored them. When we got our food and sat down and looked at my tray “sloppy Joe, yuck” I said. “Oh shut up and eat Ricardo” said James. I just threw my food away and laid my head on the table. When I looked up I saw Maria, my eyes locked on her and I started smiling, James and Felix had noticed my smiling and turned to see what I was smiling about. They look at each other and both said “ASK HER OUT ALREADY.” Once again I ignored.
A few moments past and Felix said “Troy is coming watch out Ricky.” As he passed by he smacked my head causing my phone to fall along with my headphones. The teacher in the cafeteria, noticed and walked up to me “Ricardo again?
He took my phone, “you’ll see this tomorrow in detention” and he walked away. “See you tomorrow loser” Says Troy laughing. “Bro stop getting in trouble or else you’ll get something worse” Says Felix. “Ok” I said not caring and got up heading to the exit of the cafeteria.
When I was going to my locker I saw Troy and Maria. Troy was all up on Maria bugging her; by the look on her face I could tell she didn’t like it. I got up and told him “Leave her alone Troy!” Troy continued bothering her, “I’ll get a teacher.” I said. Then he left. “Thank you” Maria says smiling and went to her locker. I then get my stuff and went to English class, Ms.Banks my teacher said we’re getting new seats.
English is my favorite class because Maria is in my class. As Ms.Bankes calls out names my eye open as she says “Maria, Ricardo”. I walk to my seat with my heart racing. “Hey, you’re the one that saved me from Troy, am I right?” she says. “ye-ye-yea” I say stuttering. After English class ends and we pack up to leave, I run out of class to tell Felix.
“FEEEEELIIIIXXXXX” I yell running up to him. “Whaaaaaat?” he says. “She sits in front of me for English” I say smiling. “Hey Ricardo, ask her out! James and I have dates this Saturday. We’re going to go to Dave and Busters at 6PM. We’ll make it a triple date, ok?” he says. “Ok” I say excited. James came and we told him about the plan.
The next day came. “Thursday, another day but I must ask her today” I say to myself. Getting my stuff ready and got on the bus.
Towards the end of English class, I was waiting for the bell to ring. When it rang everyone in the room ran out, but I see Maria struggling and looking like she wanted to burst out crying. I helped her and looked at her then asked “Is everything alright?” “Yea, just a lot of stuff to carry” she says. “Oh ok.” I started to head out but then turned around and look at her straight in her eyes “Will you go on a date with me this Saturday 6PM Dave and Busters” I asked her nervously.
“Um ok” she says smiling. “Ok, it’s a date” I said excited. “Wait” she says as she’s writing on a piece of paper “Here’s my number”. I grab the paper and smiled at her, when I left the classroom I ran to my locker. I was getting my stuff quickly as I can but then overheard her and her friend, I was pretty sure they were talking about me because I heard one of her friends say “EW him?! You could do so much better” but it didn’t bother me, I just ignored it and went to Felix and James. “GUYS GUYS!!” I yell running to show them her number. “Way to go Ricky!” James says playfully punching my shoulder. We all walk out the doors to our buses.
As I’m on my bus, it started to rain, I grab my IPod and put my headphones on and put on Rain by Hollywood Undead. When the bus stopped at my spot I got off the bus quickly. When I got home I did my homework really quickly, made myself a sandwich and started playing Black Ops 2. My dad had finally got home. “You alright pops” I asked “yea” he replies. We really don’t talk much after he and my mom got divorced.
A day passed and it was finally Saturday. I was excited. I took a shower got my best clothes. That was black skinny jeans and a Pierce the Veil band t-shirt with my checkered vans and then ate an apple. I looked at the clock and it was only 4pm, I had time to play video games. It then hit 5:45pm, I decided to go to Walgreens and buy her a rose. Then went to her house, when I knocked on her door I was surprised. She was wearing blue jeans and a Black Ops 2 shirt and white Converse. At school she usually wears skirts, girly blouses and flats. Right away I knew she was the one, “You look amazing” I told her handing her the rose. She blushes and smiles “Thanks”, “It’s the truth” I say.
As we’re driving she randomly puts her hand on mine, my heart is racing again and it’s the best day of my life. When I drive to a parking spot I see James and Felix with their dates. We went inside and got our cards, we got 1 card per couple. Felix and James mostly played games that didn’t have tickets; mostly racing, ski ball and basket ball games like that. While me and Maria played ticket games and some racing games. At the end Felix had bought his date a bracelet and candy. James bought his date big silly sunglass and bought himself a bouncy ball. Then there’s me with tons of tickets with Maria. I bought her one of those big stuff animals, there was only a penguin and a whale but deiced to buy her the penguin and a ring pop for both of us. She giggled when I put the ring pop on her. I told James and Felix bye and I’ll text them tomorrow.
Maria and I then put the stuffed animal in the trunk and ate our ring pops. I was getting a little hungry and asked if she was too. “Haha yup, playing for hours always makes you hungry” she replied “Is McDonald’s ok?” I asked “yes, let’s split the 20 piece chicken nuggets ok?” she asked “sure” I said smiling. After we ate I looked at the time and its 11:30pm “I think I should take you home right now”, “ok” she said. As I dropped her home she kissed me on the cheek and said “This is one of the best dates I’ve ever had” and then left. My cheeks turned red and I couldn’t stop smiling and drove home. When I got home I went straight to bed, and told myself “One of the best days ever” and then fell asleep.
