Say what you will about the 1998 Godzilla franchise or its poorly designed titular character, but one hidden gem it has is in the animated sequel series. That success is, in large part, due to Zilla Junior, who survived the ending of the 1998 movie. Because the writers of the show actually cared about the source material, Zilla's character was written to be much closer to his Japanese cousin than his father. He even has Godzilla's signature atomic breath, albeit green instead of blue, instead of the flaming fishbreath of his dad. Speaking of the elder Zilla, Junior had to face off against his father, who had been revived as Cyber-Godzilla, in the shows final episodes. If anyone asks where Toho got the idea of reviving the original 1954 Gojira as Kiryu in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., this is where they got the inspiration.

Personality-wise, I'd say Zilla Junior's personality is a combination of the happy-go-lucky Showa and the incredible perseverance of Heisei.
