Chapter 2: Specially-Arranged Funding

We went over to out chamber for the night, we all ended up sharing one, I wake up to the sounds of Nate and Jess throwing chairs at each other while testing out their weapons on each other. I look to the side and see Mariam eating popcorn just watching, wait where did she get that from. I sat on my bed and started to watch them being like demons form hell, welp I guess this is normal, kinda makes me happy that I won't be waking up to this every day when I go on my own travels.

We went over to the dining hall to go have some breakfast, once we where finished, we waited for the king to summon us. While waiting I felt anxiety rush over me, like something bad could happen, but I chose to ignore it. I was sat with Mariam and we where watching as Jess and Nate went from happily talking to each other, to them seeming like they where going to go war against each other, however they seemed to be play fighting so there wasn't much worry in them accidentally killing each other which is a relief.

After all this, we hurried to the audience chamber. 

"The heros enter,"

The doors of the audience chamber swung open to reveal a group of 12 strangers, and they all where dressed as if they where about to embark on their own adventures. Oh no, they arranged team mates for us, mmmmmm, I will decline their invites because I'm not sure if I can trust them, I want to find my own party members, not some members that where probably bribed by the king to join my party. 

"I have called for others to assist you in your journey. Apparently my call did not go unheeded."

oh no, people,

"Now then, gathered adventures, please choose the legendary hero with whom you will travel with."

So they got to choose, interesting, hopefully I wouldn't get picked.

The gathered adventures walked over in our direction and formed lines before the heros they wished to travel with. 

Behind me where....... FIVE, oh god, whyyyyyyyyyyy

I looked over to the others, Nate looked to be flinging the string on their bow out of nerve, behind him was four people. 

Jess looked pretty proud of themselves, holding their spear up in the air, swinging it about not noticing the three people behind her.

I looked over at Mariam, who was staring at her shield, behind her was...... NO ONE, HEY THATS NOT FAIR!!!!!

"She's not very popular, is she," one of the men in robes snickered to themselves. 

"HEY HOW COME MARIAM DOESN'T HAVE ANYONE!!!!!!!!" screamed jess clearly pissed with the ordeal, me and Nate nodded, while giving a glare towards the king. He spoke. "I did not anticipate anything like this."

We all offered to give Mariam some of our party members, she could have all of mine, I had already declined their invites so they backed off a bit, but none of them went to join, what twats, whats so wrong with Mariam, she is the nicest person here. 

A red haired girl offered to join Mariam's' party and I could already sense the red flags, I gave a worried expression on my face, and the red haired girl joined Mariam's party, she seemed happy that someone joined her party, so it was nice to see her happy. At this point my 'party' had left the throne room because of my rather rude decline, I didn't mean to seem rude, but I don't know these people enough to trust them yet.

"I suppose there is no way around it. Miss Mariam, you'll have to recruit others to accompany you while you are travelling, that goes to you too, Miss Ash." HOW THE FUCK DID HE FIGURE OUT I WAS GENETICALLY FEMALE, IMMA FLIP MY SHI- "Each month, I will supply all of you with the necessary funds for your journey, though in compensation for today's events, Mariam's first payment will be higher than the others."

Good, that was a nice thing for him to do.

"Now then, I have set aside these funds for you. Please accept them."

Some attendants brought a bag of money to each of us. It sounded metallic, but thats to be expedited, I'm pretty sure all money was made out of a metal of some sort.

"I have set aside 800 pieces of silver for Miss. Mariam and 600 pieces of silver for the rest of you. Please take these funds and begin your journey."

"Yes, sir!!!!!" we all shouted in unison.

Each of us thanked the king and exited the castle to embarked on our journeys.
