Ellie stood in a black dress outside with her mother, Rachel, on her left and her little brother, Tyler, on her right. In front of her was a hole in the ground with a black casket in it that held her father. Her eyes were red from all the crying. She couldn't believe her father was gone. All she could think about was what had happened to him.
It was a snowy night in December. Ellie and her family were going to their grandparents' house for Christmas. They were all singing Christmas songs and having fun. Mark, Ellie's father, was driving, and Rachel was in the passenger seat. Ellie had accidentally dropped her phone in between the drivers seat and the center console. When Rachel was going to get, Mark insisted on getting it. When Mark had reached to get the phone, he took his eyes off the road for a second when he heard a scream and looked up. When he looked up, he saw a deer in the middle of the road, and he swerved off the road. The car went down a hill and flipped over four times before it landed on its back. Everyone was passed out for a while until Ellie opened her eyes. She was dizzy from hanging upside down, and when she tried to move her wrist, all she felt was pain. Ellie looked around and saw her mother, father, and little brother passed out. She called out their names, but they weren't responding. With her good wrist, she unclicked her seatbelt and fell of the roof of the car. She crawled all over the car for her phone when she finally found it. Ellie called 911 and told them she was in an accident. She tried to speak, but everything was fading out and she could barely hear the dispatcher. Then, suddenly, she blacked out.
