Chapter Twenty Five - Crazy

"Nika... you're... crushing... me."

She let go at my complaint. I let out a breath, panting slightly. She held her hands up in defence.

"I'm sorry. I was worried."

"I can tell."

"I'm going to murder Dumbledore," she started, her tone turning cruel as she walked by me into the Common Room.

"Come right in," I whispered, out of breath.

"He can't endanger the lives of kids who didn't put their name forward for the fucking Tournament. Especially when they are Lyra Black," she continued, now entering the bigger room.

"But right now I need to get my anger out. Where Pansy?" she asked me, turning around.

I noticed that there was no one left in the Common Room and assumed that they had all head to bed. They were all quick to leave. "I'm sorry, what?"

"I need to have an angry make-out with someone," she told me as though it made every sense in the world.

"In her room," I replied, pointing to the left corridor.

She nodded, making her way towards it. "You're okay though, right?" she asked.

"Peachy."

She nodded, leaning the room and making her way towards mine and Pansy's dorm room. I wouldn't be going in there to sleep tonight.

"You have odd friends," a voice spoke up from the darkness. Mattheo stepped into the light.

"You're one of my friends," I told him, making my way back to the warm fire.

"I'm not as odd as that one."

I shook my head, laughing lightly. "I don't think she's odd. She's just... Nika."

He nodded, moving towards me and sitting down on the carpet beside me. "I thought it was going to be your boy toy."

I sighed. "No. I don't think he was even at the Task."

"Does that not worry you? That he doesn't care?"

"Mattheo –"

"I know. I know. I'm just trying to make a point. Even if he is just a distraction, he's not a very observant one."

I sighed. "I don't have the energy to argue with you Riddle," I told him.

"I'm sorry," he told me, rising from his position "I'll leave you alone." I didn't stop him as he left the room.

Sighing heavily, I brought my knees up to my chest, resting my head against them. Nothing settled in my mind. Events and words seemed to muddle into each other. I knew that there had been a Tri-Wizard Task today. I knew that I had been trapped underwater for hours and that my life had been in serious jeopardy, but none of it seemed to take a permanent place in my mind. It just seemed to... slip away.

The fire roared to life in front of me and I jumped back, quickly rising to my feet. The wood in the fire began to contort and soon a circular shape formed beneath it.

"Lyra!" a voice rasped from the fireplace.

My eyes widened, moving towards it. "What the fuck?" I asked.

"Hey, watch your language Padsy!" another voice sounded, this one quieter than the other.

My eyes landed on the fire and I found that there was a face carved into it. "Dad?" I asked.

"Lyra." He breathed a sigh of relief. "She's okay Moony!" His face turned to the side, as if talking to someone behind him.

"How?"
