*On Earth*

"I went away for like what? 5 minutes, and MY TAKOYAKI BECAME A FUCKING ANT'S NEST," an earsplitting shriek boomed from one of the apartment rooms, destroying some unlucky eardrums in the process.

It's a good thing her adoptive parents were still away at that moment; she'd probably make their already strained relationship even more strained if they weren't.

Kou watched in horror as black ants swarmed her now inedible takoyaki. They had made a trail from the floor up to her desk, stopping right at her supposed-to-be snack.

Believe it or not, she's usually a levelheaded person and hardly ever loses her shit unless the situation calls for it. It just so happens that this situation is one of them. Every time she comes across ants, all of her voice of reasoning goes down the drain, and her composure gets yeeted out of the Earth's atmosphere to only god knows where.

If you think that's bad enough, just wait 'till you see how she was a couple of years ago— past her would most likely be running away without a second thought, even going so far as to have a panic attack at the sight of a single ant.

"Stupid ants," Kou grumbled as she turned around to open a small safe near her desk, taking extra precautions to be at least two meters away from those horrid creatures.

Opening the safe, Kou was met with the lovely sight of an ant spray. She made a mental note to buy more ant sprays— which translates to hoarding the entire ant spray stock in her native language that only she could speak and understand.

The only thing she fully trusts in this world is her ant sprays. Heck, not even her therapist— the person she opens up to the most— has her full trust.

In conclusion, Kou has never trusted anyone— except an object— in her 19 years of living. Sad? Yes. But does she have any plans to change that? No.

Why risk getting hurt and possibly developing trust issues when you can put all your trust on something reliable that can never betray your trust even if it tried, amirite?

She sighed when she felt the weightlessness of the ant spray, knowing full well that it was going to be empty after one more use. You've served me well, I'll be sure to make the most of your last mission.

Coming closer to the ant infestation, Kou was about to press the spray button when her hair suddenly stood on end.

Huh?

She's done this a lot of times already, what's she nervous about?

Eh, it's probably nothing.

Deciding to brush aside that odd feeling, Kou picked up where she left off— pressing the spray button— and watch as the ants started to go still.

At least that was what was supposed to happen if her entire body wasn't engulfed by light before she could do anything.

*Back to the hxh universe*

Meruem watched in intrigue as a figure started descending from the sky, his sensitive ears picking up on a string of colorful words that came out of that entity's mouth.

He couldn't help but wonder, 'Am I missing something, or is this just a normal entity thing?'

Everyone watched— confused and concerned at the same time— at the entity currently experiencing Alzheimer's, saying something along the lines of accidentally spraying itself in the eye while rubbing its eyes aggressively.
