The light comes up dimly with an ocherous hue. Various houses are spotted in the background. The roofs are plated with bricks, and the buildings are tilled with rough concrete and cement. In the distance, the audience can see some tattered posters shoved onto the walls in the context of witches. However, the spotlight should focus on Frankenstein the Monster as he meandered through the deserted streets. There is a residence not far from him as he trudged through the village towards the home(center stage). The audience should hear the hushed mumbling of people during this scene to emphasize the distraught of seeing the Monster. From the left, Beth emerges.

Beth: (stretching) It's already evening. I should head home to cook dinner.

Monster: (sees her and then runs over)Greetings, mademoiselle, why are you sitting here all by yourself? Where are your friends?

Beth: Greetings to you too, sir; they are not here. Would you like to accompany me?

Monster: Definitely, it would be my pleasure. Can I have your name?

Beth: Yes, my name is Beth.

Monster: Beth, aren't you afraid of me?

Beth: I do not fear you. Everyone is unique in their own way, including you.

Monster: Thanks...people in the village all spooked of me. They want to seize me and kill me.

Monster: So... me, you, friends?

Beth: Yes, of course, fine gentleman!

(They exit to the right, arms linked together, as the lights go out)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the stage, Beth is donned in patched clothing while kneeling in the display of the village chief. In his hand, there was a torch; it had a lot of flickering flames that shot sparks within the breeze while the fume was gradually spreading. The village chief had an imminent scowl fixed on the poor girl as if impeaching her of something. The lights should be radiant as the spotlight dawned on Beth. Both actors are on center stage.

Village Chief:(Grouchily, clearly displeased) What were you doing with that Monster! I thought I had warned the village of it, but here you are, Bethra, feeding and domesticating it! It's not a giant, fat pig or anything! What can you get out of this?

Beth: (with a raspy voice)H-He is m-my friend, signor, with all due of r-respect, he is not the monster p-people think he is!

Worker: (accusingly, pointing the finger at her)Stop with your futile efforts! I saw how you and that horrid, disgusting piece of crud were walking together with my own eyes. Clearly, this is not a coincidence! (He then "spits" on her, much to everyone's disgust)

Beth: I insist, sir, that he is just a misunderstood creature, and I am no witch. Please, let me go!

Village Chief: Sorry, Bethra, we cannot let a witch live. The ceremony will be in one hour. Your body will be shown in the middle of town to warn all other witches.

Beth: (begging) No, please, I'm innocent!

(As Beth is being dragged off the stage, the lights darken as Worker grins triumph.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inside Beth's cottage, the intention should be modest. There will be corroded, unpolished furniture and a worn mattress lying on the ground. A dining table is seen with leftover scum such as loaves of charred bread, a dehydrated apple, etc. All in all, it should have a frigid layout and feel unsettling.

(The Monster enters the stage, holding a newspaper saying Beth had been captured and hanged as a witch.)

Monster:(holding head)No, no-(He reads the newspaper, again and again, his eyes glazing over)

Monster: It can't be! How come that Beth is a witch?! I don't believe it! How-

(Footsteps, the Worker enters holding the same newspaper)

Worker: Ha! They finally got that filthy rat! The wicked witch! The messenger of demon!

Monster:(putting on his mask)Hey, what are you talking about?

Worker: Oh, good evening, I'm talking about the witch hunt; they hanged a witch yesterday, evil thing, I say. (He stopped because the Monster's face was twitching)Sir, are you alright?

Monster:(trying to hide his irritation)Yes, go on.

Worker: Her name is Beth; I witnessed her walking with an ugly creature, a demon the size of you, gentleman, no offense.

Monster:(with bitterness, hand starts to twitch)Then?

Worker: I reported it to the village chief, and they hung her then cremated her vile corpse. It was unspeakable glory to see a witch being hung and burnt. I felt very proud of it. You should come and see- (The Monster seized the Worker's throat)

Monster: You devil! You are not suitable to live!

Worker:(gasping for air)But...but who are you?

Monster:(tearing off the mask)You may die with my wrath! (The Monster strangles the Worker to death)

Monster:(to the dead body)You want me evil? Then I shall be! I'll be the devil in everyone's heart! I'll destroy them, for they already destroy me! I'll seek revenge!!!

(He looks around, spotting the fireplace)

Monster: Yes! I know! I'll set the village on fire! I will let them all taste the pain that Beth has gone over! None of them can escape! .....(running away to find materials for setting the village on fire, cackling deviously)

Monster: (using the torch to light ablaze firewood that he just brought back, throwing the wood that was already on fire onto housings. Soon, a large area of the house was burning) It's seething with the ashes of my heart! Then, they'll all taste the misery and despair; their little brains will eventually comprehend the distress I am enduring!

Monster: I'm stranding this despondent zone!

(The Monster walked a few steps, then stopped and sighed longingly as if to recall some memories)

Monster: I cherish the times I've had with Beth very much, as it has been one of the best moments. And I'm now truly alone. (Pauses as if to ponder something) Unless...(exclaims) I know! I'll let Frankenstein make me a companion to finally enjoy my life to its fullest!

(He bounced off stage, lights out)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

In an isolated corner of Geneva, Victor Frankenstein receives an edition of the "The Daily Science" newspaper. At best, the lighting should be cyan; however, blue would be fine. The room layout should be similar to act one; however, rid of machines and specimens.

Frankenstein: (ominously) Monster, you burnt down a village in the south, huh...perhaps it is time for me to encounter you before you cause any other unnecessary chaos.

(The curtains close as the lights slowly get turned off)
