"That's strange. Where could he be?" Leona tried calling him again.

"Perhaps he just went to breakfast alone?" Chace offered weakly.

Leona looked back at her phone screen to check their chat history. "Then why isn't he even looking at my messages?! I sent him, like, over a dozen since late last night! They're all marked as unread..."

"Maybe his phone died and he forgot to unplug it from his charger this morning?" Chace pressed his ear against the door to listen carefully. "Send him another message and I'll see if I can hear his ringtone, or at least a vibration."

Leona obeyed, but it was more to humour Chace's theory. She and I exchanged a look that said we both knew Jedson wouldn't just vanish like this without informing someone beforehand. He wasn't the type to leave his closest friends hanging.

"Bright... I know Jedson went out to find you last night. I could tell that you both were missing each other, and that deep down your need to put this behind you outweighed your anger for what he did. Twenty-four hours is more than enough time to wallow, don't you think? So I sort of nudged him into finding you so you guys could clear things up." She admitted, though she didn't sound in the least bit apologetic for meddling. Not that she needed to be, because she wasn't wrong; I did miss Jedson, and I'm glad he apologized for the public serenade and confession. It was just funny how confident the girl was in her own decisions that typically revolved around other people's problems.

"He found me." I admitted sheepishly.

She gave me a knowing smile. "I won't ask what happened between you two. I'm just wondering when you last saw him? Did he take you back to your room? Did you part ways somewhere else?"

I left him in a fucking freezer...

But the senior would have let him out, right?

I left Chace and Leona by Jedson's door without another word. They called out to me in confusion, but I had no time to explain. My gut was telling me that something wasn't right and that I had to hurry.

I sprinted down the hallway and stairwell to find the senior from last night. I had chosen to approach him specifically because I recognized him as the male first floor dorm leader in Massey. He expertly led one of the sporting events that Jedson participated in during frosh week, so he seemed like a reliable and friendly guy. He was also the only senior last night who didn't tease Jedson for bringing me to the culinary building for a 'romantic date'.

All the floor leader's doors were uniquely marked to call attention to freshmen in need, so it wasn't hard to locate his room. I pounded my fist against the hard wood relentlessly until he swung the door open. He was still half-asleep as he took in my equally messy appearance. I was still in the same sweat pants and loose t-shirt that I'd slept in, and I hadn't washed my hair or brushed my teeth before heading out to Jedson's room.

He seemed confused by my presence. "Hey, Bright. What are you doing here? This isn't your floor... but if you got a problem, I suppose I can-"

"Did you see Jedson last night?" I asked desperately.

He looked at me like he suspected that I was hungover. "I saw you both last night. You came to the culinary building, remember?"

"I know that!" My voice was rising in fear, "Did you see Jedson after I left? Did you go to the kitchen like I told you to?"

He crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe. "I did, but Jedson must have split already. And he didn't even leave the brownies you promised!"

"That's impossible! He couldn't have left, and the brownies were right on the counter-"
