*Request for vikisisk220015* Clint and Natasha

Start from the beginning

"But that's not really the main thing that scares me, the thing that terrifies me the most is that—I don't know where I'm gonna go after I.....what if it's just a black abyss of nothingness? I'll be all alone, and you guys....."

"Death is always an uncertain and scary thing. It's something we can't control. But I doubt that you'll go to a place like that. You of all people don't deserve that." He told me.

"How can you be sure?" I asked him.

"Honestly, I can't. But I've got to have faith. Cause if I look up at the sky, up towards Heaven and I don't see your spirit in the form of a star every night, then the big guy and I are gonna have some problems." Dad gave a soft but broken smile as he leaned his forehead against mine.

"And......you guys? Will—will you be okay?"

"We'll—answer that question later. Right now you need to get some rest." Mom said. Dad helped adjust my position so that I was now laying on my back, my head resting on my pillow. He kissed my forehead before booping my nose softly.

"Night kiddo."

"G'night dad. G'night mom." I whispered as I felt mom's hand stroke my cheek.

"Goodnight my little one." She kissed my forehead as well before both she and dad left my room, turning off the light and shut the door. I let out a sigh and lay there for awhile staring at the ceiling until finally my eyes grew heavy and I had no choice but to close them.

*3rd Person POV*

The next morning, Natasha was the first to wake up so she decided to go and check on her daughter. Tying her silk red robe around her waist she silently snuck out of her room and headed over to (Y/n)'s room.

She quietly opened the door and closed it as carefully as she could before walking over to (Y/n) who was still sleeping soundly.

"(Y/n)? (Y/n). Time to wake up love." But as she carefully looked over her daughter there was something wrong. Her chest wasn't rising or falling anymore, plus she was lying too still for her liking. "(Y/n)?" Natasha's voice sounded more urgent as she sat very close to her daughter. Natasha placed her head over her chest to see if she could hear (Y/n)'s heartbeat. There was none.

She then felt around her neck still calling out (Y/n)'s name but once she felt around her pulse on her neck and felt that there was no heartbeat. Natasha shook her head in denial. No she couldn't be gone now. Not like this. She wasn't even with her when she promised her she would stay by her side in her final moments, but now—it was too late.

(Y/n) Barton-Romanoff was gone. Having died in her sleep last night and losing her battle to cancer.

The facility was dead quiet. No one really laughed anymore, no one cared to smile. What reason was there to when the light of the Avengers had been taken away from them so young and all too soon.

Steve, Bucky and Sam missed having their little workout buddy, Wanda and Vision didn't prepare homecooked meals as much anymore because they missed having their taste tester, Bruce and Tony they missed having some sort of smart-ass comment on how they should do a project one way when they were doing it another way. They sure did miss that especially, turns out a half year trip to Wakanda can improv a girl's smarts.

And Thor—well he was pretty much off world ever since the funeral. He just felt like there was hardly a reason to come down unless Earth truly needed him, the first young Midgardian he had taken under his wing had been snuffed away from him by a disease that not even Asgardians could cure for her.

Even Stephen Strange felt at fault. He was once the greatest neurosurgeon in America, had his hands still worked, he could've performed the surgery himself and removed the tumor himself but no.

Of course no one, absolutely no one was more heartbroken than the adopted parents themselves, Clint and Natasha. Together they raised that girl from the time she was rescued at the tender age of 5 and now—now she was just gone. Not from a mission gone wrong, not from alien threats, not even a simple mugger on the street.

No the biggest villain of all to take the Light of the Avengers away from them all, the one villain half the people in the whole world can't beat. Cancer.

Tony was going through some old files on the computer when he caught something that didn't seem to be related to any cases they worked.

"Friday open up file FARETHEEWELL."

'Yes boss.' FRIDAY's voice spoke up as the computer opened it up and Tony saw what was on it, his eyes widening as he quickly grabbed his phone and dialed the first number he could find.

"Happy, get everyone to the facility now. No, no it's not that—look I understand that this is your day off but I need you to call every member of the Avengers and get their butts up here right now! Why? Because I found one final message from the greatest member of the team."

Everyone gathered around within 45min after Tony made the call (well forced Happy make the call) in the living room.

"What's this about Tony?" asked Rhodey.

"I came across something while going through the archives. It's.....it's from (Y/n)." at hearing her name, all the Avengers looked up.

"Don't give me hope Tony." Clint said brokenly.

"This isn't a joke here Stark." Natasha said in the same manner but with a hint of anger in her tone.

"I'm not lying. FRIDAY pull it up on screen."

'Yes boss.' The TV in the living room soon turned on and there it showed (Y/n) sitting at her computer desk, her head wrapped up in a bandana to hide her then balding head. Even with as pale and sickly as she looked the day she made the video, there was still a spark of life in her eyes.

'Hey everyone. I uhh—hope you come across this. Hopefully after I'm gone otherwise this is just awkward.' She nervously chuckled which also made everyone chuckle sadly. 'I—I know things haven't been.....well easy since.....' she gestured to her head. 'But I—I just wanted to tell all of you thank you. Thank you for all the support, love and care you've given me. Especially throughout this whole cancer treatment.'

There were a few soft nods, broken smiles but everyone in that room all had tears in their eyes.

'I wanted to make this video to make sure that all of you also know something very important. This is not your fault. I know you guys are heroes, you've all been heroes to me. You think you have to save everyone, but the truth is not everyone can be saved. Especially someone like me. Cancer is—pardon my language, is a bitch. And sadly I got the short end of the stick in not recovering like some who get lucky and get pass this. What I want you all to know—is that this wasn't any of your faults. You can be sad and mourn for my death, but don't let my death dictate the lives that you all can still save. I believe in all of you. So go out and be the brave heroes I know you all to be. Honor my death by saving countless others. And know that I love each and every one of you. I love you 3000. And thank you for all the good times.' She pressed her hands together into a heart before the video ended with that still image right there. A warm, soft smile in her face.

After the message ended, everyone sat there in silence. Not a single person spoke a word but they all took (Y/n)'s word to heart and they all vowed after seeing that video to keep that promise to her.
