Chapter 5

    Alex and I were in his car.  I told my mom to go get my car so I could go with Alex.  I feel bad my mom will have to walk to get it.  My house is only three blocks from school I think she will be fine.  I look over at Alex that was so concentrated on the road to notice.

"Hey, Alex,  why were you still at the school?" He glanced over at me meeting my gaze and finally spoke.

"I was waiting for you, but got worried when I didn't see you leave.  So I went to see were you where. After I saw you on the ground holding you side my first instinct was to kick him right in the knee cap."

"I'm glad you where there.  I could have lost her."  He plastered a silly smile on his lips.

"So its a girl?"  He giggled at his own joke.

"Um.. well I really don't know. Its a fifty percent chance."  He laughed so hard I thought we were going to crash the car.

"Whats so funny!"

"When you said fifty percent chance you sounded like a weather woman."

"No I didn't."  I looked over at him with my bottom lip stuck halfway out.

"It's a fifty percent chance of female."  Said Alex imitating what a weather man would sound like.  I could hold in my laughs any longer so they all just spilled out of me.  My laughter finally calmed down enough for me to talk.

"Where are we going, you pasted my house five blocks ago."  He moved just his eyes to look at me and made the cutest smile showing the slightest dimple.

"Its a surprise."  I smiled even wider now that I know its a surprise.  If there's one thing I like more then candy it's surprises.  I looked out the window tried my best to figure out my surroundings, but I've never seen any of these houses or fields before.

     I slowly felt my eye lids weight cover my eyes and become a dream.  The dream was to dark to make out anything, All I could see was a face, a face I will regret for years and years to come. John.  I felt my body shake until I was awake.  All I could hear was Alex's voice.

"Where here."  I jumped up almost hitting my head on the roof of the car.  All I saw was a field that meet up with a tiny meadow.  In the center of the meadow a tree stood strong and tall by itself.  I hopped out of his car and waited for him to direct me to were I was suppose to go.

    Alex reached out his head wanting me to lay mine comfortably in his.  I stuck my hand in his and walked right next to him making the lonely tree get bigger and bigger.  Alex let go of my hand and put one leg on a half a branch that just stood there and gripped his hand on another branch.  Before he was to high off the ground he reached for my hand.

      I toke my hand in his once again.

"Do you think you can climb? If not i'll pull you up."  Before I could answer he was already pulling me up on his lap.  He pulled away a curl that was dangling infront on my face.  He smiled at me for a few seconds before talking.

"Want to go higher?"

"Sure."  Before he said anything else I helped myself by climbing to a spot of the tree the looked like a big chair for two.  I waited for Alex to catch up with me.  He finally made it to were I was.  I was already sitting in one of the chair like branches waiting.

     He sat right next to me, by that time the sky was already turning purple, pink, orange, and a dark black.  We sat there in silence.  I rested my head on his chest listening to his heart beat.  Alex looked at me and smiled and looked back at the sky.

"Brooke you remind me of the sky right now."

"Why's that?" 

"Your both beautiful."  I could help but smile and drift off into my own little fantasy world with me and Alex and the future that will come sooner than I think.  Its been two months, but there are still seven left to go.  There was still a whole life to come.  It was either going to be a bad life or a good life.

     My bad life included John, the real father.  My good life included Alex, my hero.
