Chapter One- If I Was Dying On My Knees, You Would Be The One To Rescue Me

Jonah Reid was fifteen years old when his brother Henry graduated from high school and was accepted into the University of Los Angeles to attend the European Languages and Transcultural Studies program. He wanted to learn more about other cultures and languages from around the world (other than from his father.)

After Henry's birthday that year, he called his brother. He was concerned when many of the students on campus began to go missing. He revealed to his brother that he had made a decision to return to Quantico in the fall to become a member of the FBI.

Henry completed his Bachelor's Degree in European Languages and Transcultural Studies in June of that year and then returned to Quantico to prepare for the fall semester.

Spencer was proud of his son and he was happy that his studies were making him happy.

J.J. was pleased to have her oldest son back home and safe but nervous about his training at Quantico and then later his career with the FBI.

Jonah completed plenty of research over the next two years and in his final year of high school, he decided he wanted to be a part of making the world a safer place but not necessarily as part of the FBI. He had been influenced over the years by the many stories that he had been told by his mother, father, his uncle David Rossi and now his brother Henry.

Jonah applied to Southern New Hampshire University in his final year of high school and was accepted into the Master's Degree Program of Criminal Justice.

Jonah knew that both of his parents had hidden their true feelings about Henry's decision to join the FBI. He knew that his mother worried that Henry wouldn't come home safe every day. He knew that his father spent most of the day pondering weather or not he should call and check in on Henry. He himself had heard his parents on countless nights talking to each other in their bed wondering about Henry's safety.

When Jonah received his acceptance letter, he made the decision to tell his parents that he had been accepted into the Masters of Science Program with a Concentration in Corporate Finance. He had told everyone that knew he applied this information, including his brothers and sister and his girlfriend, Holly.

Jonah had inherited his father's intelligence and because of this he was able to fast track his program in nine months. He had made the decision halfway through his program that he wanted to be trained to join the CIA.

He returned to Virginia in June of that year and took Henry out on a drive to tell him the truth.

They were parked in front of a closed restaurant when Jonah told Henry the truth. Spencer and J.J. had taken them there many times when they were children.

"Okay, so I may have excluded the truth when I told you about how I got accepted into school" Jonah began.

"What do you mean?" Henry asked.

"I got into SNHU, but I didn't get accepted into the Corporate Finance Program."

Henry felt an ounce of disappointment. "What program did you get into?"

"Criminal Justice" Jonah asked.

Henry sighed deeply. He understood now what his brother had wanted to do with the rest of his life. Something in law enforcement. Something that would make his parents more than they already are.
