"Y/n, did you see where mommy went? I made something for her."
Reiko skips happily into the living room where you were found finishing up the sweeping, her eyes wide with excitement as she holds out another drawing for you to praise— this time, it's a picture of Reiko next to her heavily pregnant mother.
They hold hands as they smile, the words 'mybaby sis' accompanied by an arrow pointed at Mei's protruding belly. Off to the corner, Reiko's drawn who you can only assume is her brother despite the fact that he's been drawn quite frighteningly disfigured.
"Reiki looks like a monster 'cus he's ugly." She says proudly, as if she was able to read your mind.
The joy in her little face is almost soul crushing, as you've now been left with the disheartening task of telling her that her mother has once again, left without a trace.
