Since I no longer had the sketchy birth certificate on me anymore, I just had to make do with the information I already had.
It wouldn't exactly be absurd to assume that I shared the same father as Margaret. If Mama cheated, it's not likely she would've gotten away with an entire pregnancy. Papa was a smart man, with a respectful amount of dignity. He likely would've divorced Mama, I think.
And even if he wasn't the father of Margaret, who would it have been?
I wasn't going to get anywhere by wandering around my bedroom, so I head downstairs to the living room/kitchen.
I reconsider my choices when I'm met with my pacing mother, parading around the kitchen counter with a worried look on her face. She's mumbling something loudly, oblivious to Ricardo trying to console her. Honestly, it reminded me of Pepa and Felix, when Pepa got stressed about something.
"Ma?" I tread lightly. She completely hinders in place, turning around to look at me. She speeds over to me, frantically gripping me by the shoulders.
"Have you seen Peggy!? We can't find her anywhere!" I'm stunned by the sudden news, Mama takes it as a sign that I'm not sure what she's talking about, and goes back to pacing around the counter.
Hermanita's missing!?
What if she's lost!?
I cared for her, despite only having known her for a year. And I knew she loved me more than she was willing to admit.
"I-I'll go look for her." I attempt to sound calmer than I am, though my shaky limbs say otherwise. Ric nods to me as I sprint out the house.
The worst thoughts invade my mind, what is she's lost!? What if she was kidnapped!? What if she was EATEN BY A BEAR.
I shiver at the exaggerated thought.
"PEGGY!? HERMANITA!" I cup my hands around my mouth, hoping to maximise volume so it reaches her ears. Wherever she is.
My continuous yells earn some confused glances from nearby villagers. I didn't care though.
My pace picks up as I speed through the multiple streets, I still had a headache but I wouldn't let that get in the way.
Peggy was fourteen, she could handle herself.
Right?
I second guess myself, she rarely left the house, which meant she wasn't all that familiar with the Encanto.
I hear someone call my name.
I spin around, looking for the mystery person. Please be Peggy, please be Peggy, please be-
"Princesa!" I'm snapped back to reality.
Oh.
I'm almost dissapointed by the new face, Camilo.
"Whats going on? I though you were resting?"
"My sister's missing, she needs me." I rip Camilo's hands off of mine, running out of town.
The forest, she has to be at the forest.
The town was only so big, so I'd already searched the entire village in a surprisingly short amount of time.
"HERMANITA!" I scream, struggling to get though the branches and leaves poking at my sides.
"Hermanita! Are you here!?" I panted once I reach a clearing. Jeez, I thought the river was further?
I spot a curly-haired girl, hugging her knees by the riverside.
"Peggy!" I beam, bolting towards her. Relief washes over me. It takes me a moment to notice the tears trickling down her cheeks.
"Hermanita?" I wipe a tear with my thumb, confusion spreading across my features. "Whats wrong?"
"I think you've already seen this..." she turns to pick up something from beside her, then holds it up for me to see.
Holy crap.

I'm not sure if the mountains are enough to keep him away. If he can get over them once, what's stopping him from doing it again?
Casita knows about my problem, it knows everything. If I hid there- no, I can't hide. I have to protect my family, and the Madrigals. Plus, his gift is powerful, and if he used it correctly then finding me would be a no-brainer.
He's always been good at hide and seek.
