-Amira's pov-
"...Should we..."
"...If..."
...
I flex my face muscles, awoken by the sound of various mutters. I can only make out certain words due to my groggy state and their hushed whispers.
Slightly shuffling to a more comfortable position, I pretend I'm still asleep. The pair that had been talking halt mid-coversation, checking that I'm still mid slumber. I listen in once their suspicions cease.
"She's probably still worried that you're hiding something, why else would she pass out like that?" I recognise that voice as belonging to my Stepfather.
"No, she doesn't need to know." Then my mother.
"There's no reason she can't-"
"She's my daughter Ric, I decide what's best for her." I hear who I can only assume is Mama storm out of the room. I don't need to see her face to know she's displaying nothing but a disciplinary look. The sound of a door closing is soon followed by a faint sigh, and the other person leaves the room. So I'm alone to my thoughts.
Well, not exactly just alone to my thoughts.
'Princesa! Hellooo?'
'Hey Milo.' I subconsciously respond, not entirely focused on whatever it is he's contacting me for.
'Are you okay? Lori said you passed out, do you need me to come over? I can take care of you, I'm free right now.' His voice is expectedly filled with concern and anxiety for me.
'No need, I'm doing just fine.' That wasn't exactly the whole truth, still disoriented from recent events. I just needed to be alone, and company certainly wouldn't assist. I gained a small headache just from sitting up in my bed, Camilo's love language being physical touch and cuddles would only hinder my case.
'Are you su-'
'I'm fine Camilo. I'm just going to get some rest, okay?' A hint of annoyance slips into my tone. My voice was practically just saying, 'go away Camilo.'
He reluctantly concurs, '...Alright then, get some rest. If you need me just ask, I love you.'
I get caught up in thinking about what Mama and Ricardo were talking about, I forget to return Camilo's parting acknowledgement. Or just say goodbye in general.
Okay, I've just got to figure out what Mama is hiding.
I kneel down to slip my hand under my bed, feeling around for the box I'd only recently stuffed under there.
Hmm?
I can't find it.
I display an puzzled expression as I can't find the item. It's an inanimate object, it's not like it just ran away. I sigh, ducking my head under the bed frame to get a better look. It's only empty, there's nothing under my bed.
I frantically do a double take, my eyes sweeping the space once more. Nothing. It's followed by a triple take, fourth, fifth, sixth, each time I'm only reminded of the bare space.
Did someone take it?
Who though?
It couldn't've been Mama or Ricardo, they would've assumed I'd already known about the secret they're hiding.
