The sound of rain hitting my window was all I heard for most of every night. Gotham City seemed like it was about to flood every night. My father was probably out doing another job for that Falcone asshole. My mom sadly passed away in childbirth, my dad tried his best to care for me without turning towards crime but, even though rent in Gothams cheap, it's hard to be a colored family in one of the most crime ridden city's. Once I saw a Robin jump across a couple rooftops while my dad was out one night. Turns out the kid beat his ass, pretty funny if you ask me. My room was empty aside from the bed and desk.

The fact that my dad was the second fucking Condiment King didn't help either. I mean, the Condiment king? What kind if gimmick is that? We have a guy with riddles, a big guy on steroids, and a just a crocodile. And then there's a guy that just uses ketchup. Now I understand that being a villain up's your status in the underground and all that. But couldn't you at least have gone with Polka dot man or something? They're both stupid but polka dots are a lot stronger than ketchup and mustard. Like holy hell that's stupid.

Thunder struck in the streets again, the storm outside had gotten worse. It was only about 6:30 pm. The sun had set by now. Saying how dad was caught by now, Batman probably beat him up. Great, I'd be home alone for another week until he and some other birds break out again. I walked over to the coat hanger in my room, grabbing my raincoat and my box of tools. I quietly walked down the stairs, you never no when someone could be inside in Gotham. I flipped up my hood, preparing to go outside. As I opened the door, I was immediately hit in the face by the downpour of ran.

I walked onto the sidewalk, the water was up to my ankles. Luckily I brought boots. The shouting of people and rain was all that could be heard. I walked into the alleyway since it was a shortcut to the small fort I built and store things in. The rain probably ruined a few things. As I reached my base, I saw it. The big one.

The tires alone would go for a couple million

The tires alone would go for a couple million. But was it worth the major beating from the Dark knight? Hell no. I'd probably never be able to walk again. Was I gonna just skip out of the opportunity of a life time. Maybe I could go for two tires. I snuck over to the Batmobile, crouching down in the rain water next to it. I opened my tool box, pulling out the tools needed to steal a tire or two. I carefully unscrewed the tire, taking it off. The alarm didn't go off so I moved onto the next tire, but then I realized how heavy the tire was and dropped it onto the Batmobile, causing the alarm too go off. "Shit." I panicked, grabbing the tire and tools and running off. I didn't want to get my ass kicked by Batman. The alleyway felt longer than normal. It was most likely fear.

I heard footsteps around the corner, so I hide behind a trash can. The Red Hood and The Batman passed me arguing. "Bruce listen, I know I've made mistakes in the past but you gotta give me at least one more chance." Was all I heard before I was able to run off. And as soon as I could, I did. "Did you hear that?" Red Hood said, turning around, luckily I was already beyond the corner. My heart was racing faster than ever.

"Jason, believe I want nothing more than to welcome you back with open arms but you need to prove to me that you've changed, that you've matured." Bruce said, walking down the alleyway next to Jason. Jason looked down, like he was disappointed in himself. "Bruce, the night you met me I was nothing but a lonely kid on the streets, I had nothing. You gave me another shot at life, and I blew it. Maybe you can give me that shot again." Jason said as he stopped walking. Bruce turned around to face him. All he saw was the scared kid that he met six years ago. All he did was turn and walk over to the Batmobile.

Bruce looked at the dent in the door, and the missing tire. "Jason, I want you to find the person who did this without hurting them, then maybe I'll give you a second chance." Bruce told him, walking over to the trunk, getting a spare wheel out. He noticed the tool on the ground. "Let that be your first mission to earn my trust again." Bruce said, attaching the tire with the batools. Which where really just normal tools with a bat logo on them. Bruce opened the car door, starting it. He drove off. "Great, he's making me do a journey to find myself. I'm gonna hate this." Jason said, looking around the alley way, noticing the fort. He walked over to it, inspecting it. There was a photo a man and his daughter. Along with a name, The Hertz family. "That's a stupid last name." Jason said, setting the photo down. He looked around the alley for anymore clues, he found none. "Well I guess this Hertz family is my only lead." Jason said, taking out his phone. He went into Oracle's database for Gotham. "Hertz family." Jason said while typing it in. There was two family's in Gotham with that name, but only one matched the people in the photo. "You've gotta be joking." Jason said, looking at the father's criminal record. "He's the fucking Condiment King." Jason said, scrolling onto the kid. "Felicia Hertz, age 13, suspended from school because of fights... apparently she kicked a 15 year olds ass at age 12. Kids got spunk." Jason said, looking for the address.

I stuffed the tire under my bed, it should be out of sight there. The next question was who I should sell it too. Joker would just kill me, Blackmask would probably pay then kill me, Twoface is a maybe, Falcone wouldn't buy it, The Penguin is my best bet. I'll think off that later, for now I needed to sleep- "HOLY SHIT!" I shouted as I turned around, the Red Hood stood behind me, seems like he snuck in the window. "Here's some advice, when you steal from the Batfamily; don't leave a photo of you and your family in a small fort right next to it." He said, I threw my tool box at him and ran downstairs. I was totally screwed, this guy was the most deadly person in Gotham. I grabbed my dads old baseball bat, hiding around the corner. "I'm not gonna hurt you, I just want to talk." Red Hood said, walking down the stairs. I held my bat, ready to hit him in the knees. As Red Hood's foot reached the floor I swung my bat, hitting him in the knees. "Ow! My fucking knees!" He shouted, crumbling onto the floor. I took that as my chance to book it. I ran out the door and back into the rain. I had no clue where I was running to, maybe I could ask Falcone since my Dad worked for him. But at the same time that would probably mean Dad would have to work more. Since he knew about my fort I couldn't hide there. Maybe I could wait out somewhere else until he checks the fort and then hide there.

I jumped up onto a ladder attached to another building, climbing up to the roof. Sitting there I caught my breathe. That was a close one. Thank god. I heard someone climbing up the ladder, the Red Hood climbed up. "You're very lucky Batman wanted me to bring you in without hurting you." He said, I looked below me, since his legs were still probably hurt I could make the jump across he might not. I had to take that risk. I ran and jumped over the ledge. "No!" The Red Hood shouted. I began to fall. However I made a hard landing on the next building, something crunched in my left arm. "Haha! Fuck you asshole!" I shouted, getting up and running away. "Bruce is gonna be so mad at me..."

Tim was still laughing his ass off. "You got your ass beat by a 13 year old!" He said while laughing. Damian was just a bit annoyed. "Well I didn't expect to get hit in the knees with a metal baseball bat." He said, looking over from Bruce who was busy at the computer, looking at the Hertz family file. "What I was trying too say before I was so rudely interrupted; This kid is a lot like me before you found me, she's reckless and alone. If you don't try and take her in it could lead her into a life of crime." Jason said, Bruce stood up, turning away from the computer. "And what? Take her in, find out about our secret identity's and want in? Have another child get hurt?" Bruce said, flipping his cowl back up. "You took Damian in." Bruce said, grabbing some tools. "Because he was trained by one of the strongest groups of assassins in the world." Was all Bruce told Jason. "Bruce please, if you do this, I swear I'll change. Never use guns again." Jason said, that caught Bruce's attention. "Fine, I'll try and help the kid, but if they get hurt that's on you."
