The trees were blowing as the new Detective, Walnut was taking a stroll through the abandoned park that she would always go to as a child when Almonds worked. Walnut felt the presence of someone behind her but she wasn't concerned at the moment and continued her walk.
She had found a nearby bench and sat down, Walnut checked her notepad for the list that her boss gave her. Whilst writing a letter fluttered down from the tree above. The suspicious envelope startled her and she picked it up, Walnut recognized the familiar wax stamp on the front and suddenly perked up from tiredness. She quickly but gently opened it and read it quietly but mumbled the fine lettering,
"Dear reader,
You have been invited to a special banquet!
At the old mansion at the end of Jelly Rd. It
Starts around 7-8 don't be late!"
Walnut tapped her pen against her notebook and came back to sudden thought,
"Aha! This has to be written by that no good theif! I have plenty of time so I better get ready at some point..." She muttered the rest On the way back she noticed footsteps being planted from next to her as she walked. Walnut stopped in her tracks and the footprints did too. She looked them from up and down and it seemed as though it was only and small cloud of turquoise dust. She realized what it was and went to grab the mysterious invisible person, but it disappeared.
Disappointingly Walnut moped back home to her tiny cottage with frustration and anger swirling in her mind. She took another glance at the letter then the clock. It was half past 7, Walnuts eyes widened. She just stuck with the clothes she was wearing and darted off to the destination.

Walnut arrived at the steps of the mansion as it towered over her. She knocked twice and the door creaked open. She felt a little uneasy and nervous but shook her head and stepped in. She got some handcuffs out and twirled them, she wonder why no one was there.
Roguefort hung from a chandelier and jumped to a rope, making slight noise. Walnut jumped to turn herself around.
"H...Hello? Who is there!? Show yourself!"
She shined a flashlight vigorously throughout the room. Roguefort lowered themself on the rope just a little behind Walnut and they tapped her on the shoulder. Roguefort immediately crawled back up the rope and jumped to the staircase.
Walnut spun around and flashed the flashlight at the moving rope.
"I have no hesitation to call for help from my fellow colleagues. So just show yourself!"
Lord Crumbles III nudged up against Walnut's leg and she looked down,
"Awww such a cute cat-"
All of a sudden she heard loud footsteps down the staircase and the lights flickered on ever so dimly. Roguefort slowly walked down the large stairs and bowed once they stopped.
"Ello there darling~ so we meet again? You look so grown up and responsible for your own life! So how's you dad doing, hm?"
Walnut held a tight fist and loudly muttered,
"...He's...dead."
Roguefort covered his mouth with a hand and looked down.
"Ah, I see. I must apologize In didn't hear anything about this."
They strolled down the last flight of stairs and leaned against the edge. Walnut slowly walked over with her handcuffs tightly grasped. Roguefort chuckled and wiped their monocle. Once Walnut got over she put the cuffs on them. But Rogue slipped right out and spun behind Walnut, wrapping their arm around her so she couldn't move.
"Hey let go of me!"
Rougefort just slipped her wallet from her pocket and let go.
"Hahah..still the child I remember!~"
They patted Walnut on the head and jumped off.
"I must be going now! Have fun in the dark darling!"
Walnut ran after and tried reaching them before Roguefort before they got out the giant window in the front. But once again she failed and pouted.
Then the lights went out, which wasn't what Walnut was suspecting but wasn't surprised either. The whole way back to her house Walnut kept her arms crossed and her eyes peeled for the sneaky theif.
Once Walnut got home she got into pajamas and felt around for her wallet but couldn't find it.
"Ah god damnit! They took my wallet!!" She just stomped around and jumped into bed with so many questions in her mind.
