Morning came and it continued as usual, Jett always woke up to bother Phoenix and make him train with her. The only thing different at base was the new guy being there.
Phoenix got up and got ready to head out with Jett, today she wanted to go against him in a shooting type simulation.
Killjoy developed a real life shooting simulator using laser tag as an inspiration when Raze wouldn't stop nagging her about somehow creating a simulation. The bodysuit burned to an uncomfortable degree when shot at with the laser guns, and marked the placement for later analysis.
When both Jett and Phoenix got to the training area with the simulator they could see that it was already in use. They both went to watch where the window was to look in. It was Neon and Yoru going up against each other. You could see Yoru sweating from needing to get away from Neon constantly since she would always rush him.
Yoru waited till she would go for him when he made a sound from where he was hiding. Once she made her move, he made his. He blinded Neon and teleported behind her, aiming his gun straight at her head and pulled the trigger.
"Ughhh, I almost got you this time. This is so unfair!" Neon pouted and complained about how she should have won that time.
"That's 8 to 0 now, pay up." Yoru said as he reached out his hands waiting for Neon to give him the creds
"Ugh fine, but next time I'll win and I'm putting 500 creds on the table!" She hands him the creds she owes him from losing.
"sure you will" Yoru lets out a small chuckle and then looks to the window spotting Phoenix and Jett.
"Looks like these pests wanna use this room, I wanted to take a break from running around anyway." Yoru pulled out his comb, flicking it open then fixing his hair as he walks out of the training area.
"Ah, you know what, I actually need to go ask Yoru something so could you just train with Neon for the meantime" Phoenix said as he placed his hand on his neck hoping that Jett wouldn't get mad
"No problem fire boy, I wanted to train with Neon for awhile now! Go have fun with the new guy while I beat Neons ass" Jett said in a playful tone and dashed into the training area.
Phoenix sighed in relief and followed where Yoru headed off to. The firebird was surprised when Yoru entered the shooting range since he thought he would just want to go straight to his room. The riftwalker grabbed a sheriff and started shooting at the targets, all being headshots.
Phoenix just watched and observed Yoru until the riftwalker spoke
"You just gonna stand there and watch like a creep?" Yoru turned and pointed his gun directly at Phoenix's head
"Damn how'd you know I was there, I swear I was being super quiet"
"I could hear your fat ass feet from when you started following me you idiot"
The firebird smerked "you didn't hear me yesterday"
"What? Wait a minute….did you fucking watch me shower?!" The riftwalker went up to Phoenix and pulled him by the collar of his jacket
"What can I say, I couldn't take my eyes off you from the very first time I saw you and looking at you from this close just makes me want to never look away even more" Phoenix said teasing the poor riftwalker
Yoru face goes red and he pushes Phoenix back "Fuck off"
Yoru goes back to shooting the targets with a different gun to clear his mind
Phoenix found it fun to tease Yoru and wanted to do it more. Phoenix stared at Yoru for a short while but then smerked as he got another idea on how to tease him.
"Huh, hey yoru, it seems like your holding the gun wrong. Here let me help you"
"I don't need your help, I know what I'm doin-" Yoru wasn't able to finish his sentence because of what the firebird was doing
Phoenix slowly glided his hands down Yorus arms until his hands were on his. Both of them were extremely close, their bodies were touching and Yoru was stunned not moving a muscle
"Ah..fixed it, you were just missing me here. You can go back to practicing now." Phoenix whispered in the riftwalkers ear and massaged one of Yorus hands with his thumb.
Yoru not knowing how to respond just continued shooting while he was being held by the Firebird. After a while the riftwalker finally came to his senses and elbowed Phoenix.
"Get off me asshole, you need to stop playing with me like that. We arent that close and aren't even friends so quit it!" Yoru was trying to use a harsh tone but Phoenix could only find it cute from how red the riftwalkers face was.
"Yeah yeah alright bruv, I'll try not to anymore" Phoenix just winked at Yoru and smiled
Both argued for around an hour until brimstone walked into the shooting range with a serious expression
"There's a mission and I need both of you to get ready immediately, both of you are going to be there for a while since there's been suspicious activity going on and it needs to be monitored." Brimstone looked at the two boys
"what the hell were you guys doing and why is Yoru red?
"Just him getting angry at something I said but that's not important. Am I really going on another mission again! I won't disappoint Boss." Phoenix was excited and jumping around like a puppy when it's owner finally comes back home.
Brimstone sighs "yes but this is your chance to prove yourself, if you work well with Yoru and don't almost get him killed from stunts you pull then I'll allow you to go on missions again."
"Why the hell am I being partnered with this idiot, give me someone else" Yoru said in a demanding tone
"I've studied how both you guys fight, tactics, style and how you both use your abilities. Yoru, ik you can adapt well to others on the battlefield very quickly, no one here really can do that especially with Phoenix. I feel like both of you will be a good match and if this goes well then I will have you both go on missions together as much as possible. I have to go now, the helicopter is waiting for you both, more information is on the files I left on it when you both get on. Stay safe boy's" Brimstone waves goodbye as he walks out of the shooting range
"You heard what he said right? He said we'd be a good match my butterfly" Phoenix said playful winking at Yoru
"Don't fucking call me that rediculus nickname you just came up with and get ready. I'll make the helicopter leave without you if you take to long" The riftwalker walked off to his room and got ready
On the way to the site both of them just argued the whole ride there
