Sir Captain looks around the house. The place is dark and quiet. He turns on his flashlight and grabs his walkie talkie.
“Hello? Is there anyone there?” He speaks into it.
“Sir Captain?” Rookie’s voice is on the other end.
“Oh, not you,” he groans.
“Where are you?” She asks.
“From the looks of it, I’m either in Phasmophobia or No More Mama. Most likely the ladder, where are you?”
“I’m in a darkened house, I can hear a man talking and I see a shadow.”
“Don’t walk towards it,” Sir Captain commands.
“Copy that, walking towards the shadow,” Rookie replies.
“I said DON’T walk towards it! As in, DO NOT,” Sir Captain yells.
“You’re cutting in and out, I told you already, I’m walking towards it.”
Sir Captain sighs and hangs his head, shaking it a bit. He should’ve listened to his mother and became a doctor, then he might’ve been in Surgeon Simulator the Musical if it ever got one. Sir Captain hears footsteps and can see a shadow walking towards him.
“Uhhh, Rookie, I have a darkened shadow headed towards me,” he speaks into the walkie.
“I’m making progress on the shadow, it’s not moving, I think it’s stunned,” Rookie responds.
“DON’T GET ANY CLOSER!” Sir Captain screams.
“It just screamed for me to not get any closer, I’m closing in,” Rookie says, stepping closer.
“THEN DON’T GET CLOSER!!”
“I’m right on top of him… I can see him, but he can’t see me… He’s talking into a walkie talkie, like you Sir Captain…” Rookie says quietly.
Sir Captain turns around and mumbles some curses, “I thought I told you not to go near it.”
“His back is turned, I’m gonna attack,” Rookie says.
Sir Captain just shakes his head and turns off the walkie. Suddenly, there’s a loud screech and something lunges onto him. He falls forward from the weight and the surprise. He wails as he falls to the floor.
“I caught him, Sir Captain! I caught him!” Rookie’s voice comes from above.
Sir Captain groans, “You didn’t catch anyone you dingbat! You caught me.”
“Who’s that?”
“SIR CAPTAIN, YOU IDIOT!” Sir Captain yells as he tries to turn over.
“I’m not Sir Captain-” Rookie says.
“No, I’m Sir Captain,” he says, exasperated.
“Oh,” Rookie mumbles as she stands up off of him.
Sir Captain stands up slowly, flattening out his outfit. He crosses his arms and glares at Rookie as she mumbles a few apologies. The room suddenly lights up and both officers look around. A small child walks down the stairs and tilts his head.
“What are you guys doing here?” He asks, clutching a purple stuffed animal in his arms.
“We’re just patrolling, nothing to worry about,” Sir Captain says.
“Two adults in my house in the middle of the night dressed as officers… Seems like something to worry about,” he says, hopping down the final few stairs, “Why are you here?”
“We’re looking for these people,” Rookie says, holding up multiple photographs.
“Oh, yeah, I’ve seen them. They went through the cupboard,” he points to the counter.
“Oh no…” Sir Captain says, walking to the counter.
“Oh no what?” Rookie asks.
“This is the tunnel to the off limits zone. This goes to the hidden files, we need to stop them-” He responds.
He opens the cupboard door, crouches, and steps into it. Rookie follows quickly after, closing the door behind her. The boy shakes his head a bit.
“Wonder if they realize that’s the wrong cupboard,” he turns around and heads back up the stairs.
