there were few words that could describe just how much I loved him.

My heart would swirl in infinite circles until it knotted itself together when he was around me.

His smell was unforgettable...the musk of beach waves, spray tan and strawberry cologne.

he was perfection.
His sandy blonde curls, his perfectly tanned skin, his beautiful blue eyes, his big red lips....

He was everything I wanted...
But the feeling wasn't mutual.

I had been in love with him since the first day I saw him surfing on Venice.

He rode the waves with such confidence, like he was rooted to the board.

Sometimes I would take pictures, capturing the moments where he looked most handsome.

But every time he stepped off the board and onto the sand, my heart would drop in my chest and my face would become red with anger.

Because she was always waiting for him.

She had strawberry blond hair, hazel green eyes, and a twisted pink painted smile.

She was skin and bones disguised in a blue bikini, her head much to big for her entire body.

She looked like a bratz bobblehead.

Every time I saw them together, my face would turn sour and my fists would clench.

What did she have that I didn't...?

To him she was perfect.

To him she was his obsession.

to me she was a plague.

-3 hours after the incident-

Her phone kept ringing.

It was still in her pocket.

I knew he was calling, but she'd never be able to answer.

Her hair was tangled, her eyes bloodshot, her lips purple.

There were other ways I could've cut her away from him but this was the only thing I knew would end their bond for sure.

Her body hung from a tree, a noose secured around her pretty little neck.

I got rid of the trap mechanics and turned to leave the crime scene, her phone still ringing behind me.

-7 days later-

I sat on the beach sand, watching him ride the waves.

He kept falling, his confidence missing.

It was like the board had a mind of its own, pulling itself out from underneath him.

The last time it happened, his back hit the sand as he covered his tear riddled face. I stood from my seat, making my way to the broken boy.

"Hey, you took a pretty nasty fall earlier...you okay?"

His hands fell from his face as he sat up, sand dusting his back.

"My girlfriend killed herself..." he muttered.

I plopped down on the beach next to him, crocodile tears pouring out of my eyes.

"I'm so sorry...that's terrible." My hands clasped around his as his sobs rolled out of his mouth.

I pulled him into a hug, my hands starting to shake.

He was finally in my arms. I could smell the saltwater in his hair, his cologne washed away with the sea foam.

"It'll be okay, you can hang with me." I smiled and he gave me a weak one back.

I'd finally gotten my obsession.

I'd finally won.
