𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱

I knew I would miss Ashtray, that was always expected. However I didn't realise all the little things I would miss, like hearing his raspy morning voice or his laugh after I said some dumb shit. I even missed those nicknames I usually scolded him for calling me.

I often thought how weird it was that the boy who knew everything about me was now a stranger. I hated how any time something eventful happened in my life my first thought would be 'I wish I could tell Ash about this' or 'What would Ash tell me to do?'

Of course I still saw him, our town was way too small for me to be able to completely erase him from my memory. Every time we crossed paths was always a brief encounter, both of us keeping our heads down and pretending like we didn't know one another. I always caught his lingering eye though and the way his face faltered once he recognised it was me.

Rue would sometimes update me on what was going on with him, it was never much information though considering how much of a private person Ash was. I also think she purposefully left out some details incase it would upset me any more than I already was.

As for the rest of my friends, it was safe to say Ashtray was a sore subject with them. I hated the way they would call him insults or say things like "you deserve so much better than him". I chose to ignore the comments they would make, reminding myself they didn't know him like I did.

Some nights I regretted it all. I blamed myself for making myself so lonely without him, I was the one who ended it after all. I wished I could just rewind and accept his apology once more as if that would have made all the difference.

Deep down I knew that it wouldn't have changed a single thing though. It was pretty much already written in the stars that we were only temporary. Two young teens with no clue on how to love was never going to last. I just wish someone had told me that before I had fallen so deep.
