Hackers are categorized into several types, including:

> White Hat

They are hackers who have good motives, they use their ability to find a security hole in a system and then notify the owner. (Company or Vendor)

Motive: The desire to help a business or protect users from cybercrimes.

> Black Hat

They are irresponsible hackers and seek their own profit. They usually enter a system without permission and destroy or steal data and then sell it on the black market or extort victims.

Motive: Financial Advantage

> Gray Hat

They have the same skills as Black Hat and White Hat. But the difference is, they sometimes do hacks for their own benefit or to help people. In this case probably most of them are Hacktivists.

> Blue Hat

They usually look for existing code such as malware or viruses that they find online, then modify it to suit their needs. They target a business or someone they feel has wronged them.

Motive: Revenge

> Red Hat

They are hackers who are trying to stop Black Hat hackers. They basically take the tools that Black Hat uses and then return them to the Black Hat. Usually they use Malware, DoS Attack, Virus, Trojan to destroy the Black Hat machine, this method is quite effective to stop them from attacking other people.

Motive: Justice

> Script Kiddie

These are people who can only use hacking software that they download online and then watch a video how to use it to carry out an attack. They tend not to be able to develop their own software, which is usually found in the gaming community. In addition, the characteristics of their attacks are DoS (Denial of Service) or DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service).
