Queen Thorn stared out at the shifting sands with unease, even with her leaning against Smolders scales she still felt as if something could wrong at any moment. The figure of an Icewing off in the distance making their way towards the fortress was what had caught their attention.
This is the third message in the span of just a few weeks. Thorn thought to herself as the Icewing closed in and landed in front of the two dragons.
"Queen Thorn." He said, his cold blue eyes locked onto hers. Queen Thorn shimmied just a bit away from Smolder and stood up. "What news do you bring to me now." She asked.
"Another Icewing. Dead, slain by the claws of a Sandwing. Again." The messenger spoke in a cold tone. Thorn swears she could feel him staring into her very soul, all she could see in those eyes was potent anger.
"This little group seems to be a bit more than you can handle-"
Queen Thorn interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. "I am doing what I can." She said defiantly. This must've struck a nerve as the Icewing took a step closer.
"Well then you must not be doing a good job at it. This is the FOURTH Icewing death, once again you fail to not only at protect your people but also at keeping your problems in your own kingdom!"
Smolder was now closer to her, a look of anger crossed his face. Thorn brushed her wing against his, not wanting to escalate anything. The Icewing continued. "We are growing tired." He said.
"Snowfall has patrols at the border of our territory because of your inabilities. Word is this little group has also spread their influence into the Skywing territory as well!" He said, now yelling.
"I'm aware of such rumors." Thorn growled.
"They are no rumors, Thorn." The Icewing growled back.
"Contain your problem, or else. Queen Snowfall sends her regards." He said. With that, the Icewing away and took flight again. Thorn felt her chest burning, she was beyond angry at this point.
"The scum, I'd like to see them deal with this problem then." Smolder said, glaring up at the sky now. He then looked to Thorn, he could see the look of anger in her eyes. He lightly touched her with his wing, a mutual sign of asking "are you ok?"
Thorn nodded her head and sighed. "Perhaps Queen Ruby will provide aid here." She then looked at Smolder.
"This occupation must end."
