The next day she was awakened not by kicks, but by her alarm clock. Funny, y/n thought to herself. It's Wednesday and she had to go back to school. She got ready, made breakfast again just for the four family members. With an apple in her hand and her backpack on her back, y/n leaves the house again and heads to school.

As she does every morning, she sits down on the bench and closes her eyes to think. She opens her eyes to a tap on her shoulder. Her eyes meet with the beautiful green eyes of yesterday. Scarlett. They both smile and y/n slides a little to the side so Scarlett can sit down next to y/n.

Scarlett: Morning little one. What are you doing out here so early?

Y/n: Morning, I have school in a few minutes and like every morning I go to the park here to let my mind wander.

Scarlett: Oh, okay.. And your parents don't mind? I mean you came home late last night and you left so early again in the morning.

Y/n looks down at her hands and plays with her rings that she got from her real parents. She notices more liquid gathering in her eyes.

Y/n: My birth parents died in a car accident 10 years ago, and I've lived with my adoptive family ever since.... I am almost never home because my parents beat me and I am supposed to do everything for them. School is like home and the streets and the park is kind of my retreat... I lied yesterday because I don't want you to be disgusted with me if you know any part of my past...

Scarlett looks at y/n and feels bad. She puts an arm around y/n's shoulder and hugs her from the side.

Scarlett: I'm sorry, kiddo... Maybe you and I can figure something out together. You're clearly not happy in the family you're in right now. And I would never be disgusted with you. Everyone has made their mistakes and have a past that you don't want to share with others. If you want, you can come to my house after school and we'll do something together.

Y/n looks at Scarlett with wide eyes and smiles.

Y/n: Are you sure about this? No one wanted me with them except my parents.... But if it's okay with you, I'd super love to come. Can we go out for ice cream? Pleaseeee?

Scarlett laughs and nods her head. Then y/n realizes she only has 10 minutes until class starts.

Y/n: I have to go now, Scar. I have class in 10 minutes! See you later!

Y/n jumps up and sprints to school. Scarlett laughs, gets up, and heads off to work. After Cloe's six classes, she leaves the school grounds with as one of the first. She heads straight to the park to the bench where she talked to Scarlett that morning.

She gets out her notepad and starts drawing. She flips through her sketches, remembering the day she lost her parents in the accident. That day, y/n's aunt got a call from the hospital that y/n's parents didn't make it. Y/n lived with her aunt for a few months after the death until her aunt couldn't take it anymore and committed suicide.

After she died, y/n was on her own and came a orphanage. There she stayed with many families, but they always brought her back to the home. The next pages in her notebook were pencil drawings showing how she felt. Now y/n has started the first colored picture as she is just feeling happy after meeting Scarlett.

Y/n doesn't notice how Scarlett sits down next to her and she watches how y/n draws. After a few minutes, y/n looks up from her pad and sees Scarlett sitting next to her. Immediately she starts to smile, which Scarlett returns.

Scarlett: Hey kiddo. Ready for your ice cream?

Y/n: Sure!

Y/n packs everything back up and stands up. Scarlett slowly walks off and y/n follows her. They both go to an ice cream parlor and Scarlett both an ice cream. The day passes quickly and y/n actually has to go home. But since Scarlett knows what it's like at y/n's house, she wants y/n to come home with her.

Scarlett: Do you want to come over and sleep at my house? I don't think it would be so great if you came home right now...

Y/n: Yeah, that would be great. I have to call though...

Y/n is afraid to make the call, knowing full well that it won't end well and she'll get yelled at by her father. Taking the phone out of her pocket, y/n dials her father's number.

Ben: What do you want! You're supposed to be home by now, brat.

Y/n: I'm not coming home tonight... I'm staying at a friend's house, I'll be back tomorrow after school.

Ben: No, come home NOW!!!

Y/n: No, I'm not coming home and I won't be back until tomorrow.

Ben: Y/n, if you don't get home asap-

Ben is interrupted by a shout from the background. Cloe can't make out the voice, but she knows it's her mother.

Veronica: Ben, leave the brat. She'll be back tomorrow and she wouldn't do anything useful here anyway. Tomorrow she'll get her lesson.

Ben: Allright, darling. You can stay, but I warn you, if you're not home after school tomorrow, there will be repercussions. Just so we're clear! Now go!

Y/n hangs up and has tears running down her cheeks. Scarlett comes right over and hugs y/n tightly. Y/n cries into Scarlett's shoulder and squeezes her tight.

Scarlett: Shhh, it's alright little one. Come on, let's go to my place and we can watch a movie.

Y/n nods and takes Scarlett's hand. Together they walk to the black sport car.

Y/n: That's YOUR car?! What do you do for a living that you can buy a car like that?!

Scarlett has to smile.

Scarlett: I'm a successful actress, that's why I can buy something like that. Come on, get in. I want to go home.

After the sentence, y/n opens the passenger door and gets in. Scarlett goes to the driver's side and gets in. She starts the engine and drives towards her apartment.
