They had been running for a couple of minutes, no longer counting the steps as they believed they were far enough from their captor.

They stopped at a tree, shaking, slumped down with their hands on their knees.

Gasping for air as their lungs burnt from the lack of oxygen.

*crunch*

The run-away straightened, clasping their hands over their mouth, pressing as hard as they can into the tree at their back.

Oh, how they wish they could be one with the tree at this moment.

"Come out #####! I know you're there. Come back to me!"

The voice was taunting and venomous, like the words themselves promised pain and misery if you returned to the owner of the voice.

"You know you can't get away from me. You're mine!! We belong together!"

The crunches of leaves grew closer, he wasn't worried about making a noise. He wasn't the one in danger at this moment.

As the steps came merely inches from behind the tree where the captured hid, they stopped.

"Oh, #####."

*crunch*

"I found you."

An arm reached around the tree and caught the run-away.

They inhaled deeply, preparing to scream for their life.

"Oh no you don't!"

The second hand clasped around their mouth.

"I loved our little game of hide n' seek, but we need to get back to our game."

They thrashed, attempting to release themselves from the mans grasp.

"Shhhh baby. It's gonna be fine. You're okay now. I'm here."

Tears pricked at the edge of their eyes

Their pleas and cries muffled by the mans hand.

The man grabbed the knife from its holster.

"Shh, it's almost over."

He drug the blade across their stomach.

The blood rushed out, though the cut wasn't deep enough to release any organs.

"Scream and I'll do it again."

The man slip his hand from their mouth down to their throat.

They took their chances and let out a blood curdling scream

"Hmmm, wrong choice."

He drug the knife once more against their stomach, cutting deeper.

He wasn't done yet.

They stared trembling from pain, no longer attempting to scream for help

"Good."

Instead of ending the cut at a line he rotated the knife and cut a different direction, slowly opening their abdomen.

They started closing their eyes, feeling themselves drifting from reality.

He placed the knife down, moving his bloodied hands to caress his victims face.

"Aww, look at you."

He smiled down at them, watching the life slowly fade from them as they bled out.

"I always knew you'd die in my arms, my love."

He placed a kiss on their forehead, mimicking a loving gesture.

He laid their stiffening body on the ground, taking in the sight as they sunk into the leaves beneath them.

Finally, it was all okay.
