A, an, and the are the three articles. These are used in front of a noun.
The- "The" is used when you are addressing a specific object. You would say something like "the book" to show that you are not talking about any book, you are talking about the book.
Ex; Can you give me the book?
A- "A" is used when you are addressing an object but not specifically. You would say "a book" to show you are not talking about a certain book but rather any book.
Ex; Can you give me a book?
An- "An" is used the same way as "a" but when the following noun has a vowel sound in the beginning.
Ex; Can you give me an object?
