Uncommon Valentines Gift

Start from the beginning

"Yeah, I—I think that those Lightborn bastards are messing with me. Especially, that Alucard."

"Well, it certainly is memorable and quirky in an adorable way. Like you."

"Thanks. Oh, I also added something inside the bouquet. I may be weird but I'm not cheap. Happy Valentine's day, Ruby."

"Oh, yes. Happy Valentine's day, Aurelius. Hmm... What could it be?" She pushed her hand inside the lettuce and carefully felt for the object he was referring to. She made sure not to damage his gift by being extra cautious with her movements until her fingers finally felt something hard and solid.

"You've got to be kidding me."

When Ruby pulled her hand out, a shining emerald pendant presented itself, dazzling ever so brilliantly against the chandelier lights. Its value was more than everything she ever owned combined, plus her house and her organs.

"It reminded me of your eyes. They were so pretty. I thought the emerald would look good on you. You don't like it?" Aurelius looked like a sad puppy as he waited for her reply. Ruby groaned internally due to how adorable he could be.

"So Silvanna let's get this straight." Guinevere began as she and the princess watched her friend and the prince interact from a distance.

"..."

"Your brother gave my girl lettuce? Does he think that she's a goat or something?"

"We lost him for 15 years. I don't know what happened to him."

🌹

"No, it's lovely. I like it."

"Do you want me to put it on?" Aurelius offered, satisfied with her reply.

"Sure." Ruby handed him the pendant and parted the hair on her shoulders to expose her neck to make the task more convenient for the prince. Aurelius bit his lips. Her skin was so white and smooth, free of blemishes or impurities tempting him to touch it with his bare hands or to feel it with his lips.

He shook his head and focused on the task at hand. He fastened the clasp together and fixed her hair back in place before facing her to see how it looked on her. Just as expected, the pendant looked spectacular on her chest. She was wearing an off-shoulder shirt which gave him ample view of her skin. The vibrant gem was a great contrast to her milky complexion and highlighted her beauty more.

"You look really beautiful." He whispered before he could even stop himself.

"Oh, thank you."

"Oh, and I also wrote you a poem. I'm not very good with words but I hope that it's not too cheesy or boring. Silvanna helped me with it because I was... Crap." Aurelius handed her a letter with a fancy red cover. It was beautiful and quite expensive too. The paper was scented as well, giving her the impression that the prince spared no expense to make it.

My Goddess Immortal

Deep in the forest of dark I stood still
My face was hidden behind verdant trees
I thought goddesses dwell on heaven's hill
Till this alluring beauty my eyes sees

Words alone could not describe your splendor
No mortal tongue could define such glory
Court poets, scholars, names honorary
Could not measure the wonder you harbor

All things in this world is ephemeral
Roses wilt, seasons change, diamonds break
Yet your smile in my heart is immortal
Even time's hand and death's scythe could not take

What was once a small bud of affection
With effort grew into eternal passion

"There's another poem I wrote but I think that it's so cheesy and awkward that I don't have the courage to give it to you but…I still think that you should see it." Aurelius whispered hesitantly, handing her another piece of scented paper. Ruby accepted the parchment and read it on the spot. The poem is longer and more heartfelt leaving her blushing harder than ever.

My Sumner Radiance

Your hair is the summer radiance
Golden as the rays of sunlight
Breaking through the storm clouds
Spreading light through my bleak world

Shame you bring to all the queen's jewels
And to all the blinking starlight
For they could never compare
To your splendid stellar eyes

As the morning sun shines through the tree leaves
I've always found it serene and splendid
Looking forward to every morning
To see this sight makes me contended

Because it reminds me of your verdant eyes
So troubled yet so alluring
Did God use emeralds to create your eyes?
Tis I wonder till I'm wise

Did He use porcelain to make your skin?
And made it soft like clouds therein
I've always thought if God made roses
After making your lips

And thought of apples from your flushed cheeks
Was your voice the inspiration to a siren's song?
Hearing it entraps me in an enchantment of melody

I cannot explain what magic your smile holds
T'is more precious than all the king's gold
If I may be so bold
Can we be together till we're wise and old?

For your gaze alone could take my breath
Losing my mind in your voice what a dread
Lost in a labyrinth what path must I thread?
With no other choice I'll go straight ahead

I love you Ruby
You're the moon and I'm the tide
Rising and falling my heart is my guide
This I can no longer hide

For you give me dragons not butterflies
Raging inside my body
Breathing fire into my soul and engraving
Your name into every fiber of my being

I can promise you rings of emerald
Pendants of rubies and kirtles lined with gold
But I promise you that your heart will never be empty
Because I will fill with my love withstanding

"..."

Ruby was speechless.

"Is it that bad?"

"No, it's sweet. I love it." Ruby replied as tears bordered her eyes.

"Hey, why—why are you crying? Please, please don't cry!"

"Don't worry I'm not sad. I'm just so touched. Thank you, Aurelius. For loving me like this."

"Well, I... I uhhhh... Can I... Hug you?" Aurelius asked hesitantly, scratching his cheeks and avoiding eye contact. It was quite an inappropriate request but he hoped that she wouldn't get angry because of it.

"Sure." Ruby spread her arms and allowed him to wrap his arms around her body. He rested his chin over her shoulder and buried his face on her hair. His heart melted as her scent invaded his senses, intoxicating him with pleasure.

"Just kiss her already, you cheesy dipstick! Boo! Aurelius, you suck." Guinevere jeered in the background.

The prince stuck a tongue out at her before looking back at the girl who touched his cheek. He leaned down to meet her level while secretly wrapping his arms around her waist. Gods, she had such a small waist like a Barbie doll. Ruby took up the courage to speak and whispered one sweet thing in his ear that made him shiver with delight.

"I love you, Aurelius."

A/N: I wrote those poems for Ruby a long time ago I've been planning on publishing them for so long. Then Valentine's came so now I have a reason to use them. Hope you loved them. Happy Valentine's Day my dears!!!
