Sophie jolted up right with a large gasp. She was laying in bed and had just had another nightmare. She tucked her head in between her legs trying to quiet the sobs that were quietly distorting her from the inside out.

"Foster, what's wrong." A voice said from the door. She didn't have to look up to know who it was, only one person called her foster. Instead of looking up she took a deep breathe and shoved all her hidden pain deep down. Covering it with the best smile she could muster.

"Hey Keefe, what are you doing here it is like," she looked outside to see the Sun coming over the horizon. Normally she loved watching the sunrise but it just reminded her of her dream right now. She realized Keefe was still looking at her probably waiting for her to finish her sentence so she did, "it is like 6:00." She cleared her throat at the end because she realized how thick it felt and probably sounded.

She finally met his eyes praying she didn't look like as much as a mess as she thought. Her prayers where not answered. She could tell by the look on Keefe's face. She looked away hoping he would just move on, but it is Keefe so of course he didn't

"Sophie..." Keefe said slowly taking steps closer until he is standing next to her bedside table looking down at her,

"Yes?" She says using the most cheerful voice she could. It was NOT convincing.

"What happened?" He said sitting down next to her on her bed, putting his hand on her ankle for support.

"Nothing, why." She said looking in his eyes. He stared back daring her to look away. She wouldn't look away. Ok, she looked away.

"Foster, please just let me in" Keefe said making Sophie look up at him but as soon as she did she regretted it. The look in his eyes had a plea in them and something stronger that she couldn't understand.

"It was just a bad dream, it wasn't even real. It just— I don't know— felt so real." With that she got up and went to her closet to find something to wear. After a few seconds she found one and turned around to head to the bathroom and change but Keefe was standing right in front of her blocking her exit.

"Umm can I help you with something," Sophie asked trying to add a hint of laughter into it but failing terrible.

"Give me your hand" Keefe said probably not realizing how strange that sounded. Sophie gave him her  hand slowly not losing eye contact until after about a minute when he let go.

"Sophie you don't need to lie to me when you are not ok, we all have bad moments and struggles." Keefe said in a quiet voice then in a firmer voice said, "It is OK to not be ok." That is what got her. She had never been told it it ok to have bad day and not try to smile. She couldn't keep her tears from coming.

As soon as the first tear came Keefe rapped his arms around her and held her like he was trying to give her his strength. If he was it was working but she had been strong for so long and it would take a lot to make her "ok".

Keefe must of walked her to her bed because now Keefe was sitting against the headboard of her bed with her in his arms to the side of him with their legs entangled with each other but she didn't remember walking.

They just lay there entangled with each other. Keefe holding her with such love that warmed her to the bone, making her slowly fall back to sleep.

Right before Sophie closed her eye and drifted into the darkness of sleep she heard Keefe mumbling something into her hair. Something along the lines of just hold on.
