"I ain't got daddy issues!" Stan argued, having come back a moment ago with coffee for him and his brother. Wendy had gone upstairs with him but hadn't come back. (Y/n) didn't blame her. She had destroyed her trust.
'The first time she was put on a mission, it was cold.
"Just bring them to us. We'll do the killing"
That's what she was told.
Easy.
That's what (Y/n) had told herself. A sweet girl the same age as (Y/n) snuggled up against her, an umbrella being held above the two of them. (Y/n) found the target at a book store on a rainy evening.
"I'm kinda scared to walk alone..."
That's all it took for her to offer to walk her home.
(Y/n) knew she should be happy; proud of how easily she could mimic the girl's shy demeanor. She was going to give her a final moment of pride and bravery before letting her new brothers slaughter her. The tall quiet one, she couldn't quite remember his name yet, promised to make it quick.
"just a quick shot to the back of the head. She won't feel a thing, but the job will be done and you'll be conditioned to what we do."
Conditioned...
This won't be the last time.
The thought was sickening, but she would push that reminder to later. She needed to focus. For now, she nuzzled into the girl who was doomed to die. She smelt like books, coffee, and some type of fruit.
Strawberries?
Maybe.
(Y/n) liked it. Maybe if things had been different, she would have liked this girl too.
What was her name?
BANG
The sound had made (Y/n) fall to the ground.
Wait
She didn't fall.
She was pushed.
The girl pushed her, because (y/n) didn't signal the men, and the man didn't shoot on time, and the girl was screaming. Because the man missed the girl.
Because the girl pushed (y/n)
Because the girl saw the men waiting
Because (Y/n) didn't signal them
Because she was thinking about how things weren't.
"I'm sorry!" (Y/n) cried.
"it'll be okay."
Tall man and shy girl spoke at the same time, but only one was startled.
(Y/n) looked to the man, his hand on her head. Soothing like a mother. Strong like a father. He ruffled her hair, adding messiness to its frizzy state.
Big brother.
"How could you?"
Big sad eyes of betrayal behind rain-fogged glasses...
That she caused.
That's what (Y/n) remembered from that night
BANG!'
(Y/n) shook her head vigorously, making her dizzy for a moment. The moment made her hair snap at her cheeks like a whip. The tiny amounts of pain followed. It was nothing compared to their wrists. How could this rope be so strong!?
Toby looked over, tilting his head. Stan and Ford were bickering again and (Y/n) assumed it was about how to stop running in circles.
"is big brother coming home soon?" The (brunette, blonde, ginger, etc) tiredly asked while she shifted in her seat. The one position had made her butt and legs go numb and it would have been so wonderful to complain about not being able to move, but drawing attention to herself wasn't good at the moment. Especially when the tight ropes around her wrists had now gone slack.
"If T... Tim didn't li... ie to me," Toby responded, a playful edge of annoyance in his voice. That's where the conversation died. The sounds of pipping doing their jobs filled the room. Even Stan and Ford had gone quiet. What was that sound just now?
Knock Knock Knock!
There it was again. Stan grumbled as he pulled his brother away to investigate, insisting he needed a break from the musty basement.
(Y/n) didn't waste time. As soon as she heard the distant click of the old wooden door close, she hopped from her chair, almost falling down in the process. Luckily her amazing ninja skills came to the rescue and she was able to make her fall as quiet as possible.
"Smooottthhh." Toby snickered at his sister's expense, earning him a glare.
"Want me to untie you or not, dumbass?"
"P... please do."
She didn't waste any more time on bickering. She quickly went to the back of his chair and pulled on the ropes. (y/n) had to admit, they were well-tied, practically perfect, but not enough to stop her. "There we go. Let's bounce."
Toby nodded in agreement as he went to the table that housed the information that Ford had pulled out earlier. (Y/n) practically read his mind and started to collect the stuff. With papers in hand, the two turned for the stairs. They were ready to run...
"WHERE IS SHE YOU DISCOUNT HILLBILLIES!?"
(y/n) and Toby both paused for a hot second until Toby finally spoke up, his brown hair falling into his face as a tick make his shoulder jerk. "Wa... ah... was that Je... eh... eff?"
.
.
.
"Yep."
"Fuck."
