Part 1

Brinng brinng. "Curse you damn alarm. I don't wanna go to my first day at college" I groaned while turning off my alarm. Throwing the blanket over my head, and grabbing my phone off the nightstand. I scrolled through Instagram to see how everyone is doing. People are living their life going on vacation, clubbing, and bar hopping. I wish that could be me I thought. Getting lost scrolling through Instagram. When I checked the time again, it said that the time was 7:35. I got up and changed into a baby blue oversized t-shirt that said "the beach is where my home is" and wore ripped jeans. Poured myself a hot cup of coffee and some cereal. While eating my breakfast my cat jumped up on the table, rubbed against me while purring. "I don't deserve all your love Pepper".
I grabbed her food, fed her and put two small treats for saying thank you for the changes, and adapting to it. I packed my bag with my art supplies that I might need for school. I grabbed the rest of my coffee and head to class. Breathing in and out didn't do the trick. But hopefully I could survive the day. Take it one day at a time Alana.
Walking straight into my first class, I quickly grabbed a seat and opened my bag to get my art supplies out. I started doodling small things like stars, eyes and umbrellas. Our teacher came in and introduced himself.
"Hello Art class. My names Mr. Shafer. I will be your Professor for this class. We will be shading and acrylic painting this week. I will be teaching you and critiquing your art to make you guys better artists."
I looked at him up and down. I couldn't tell if he was gonna be a good teacher or not. He seemed like one of those teachers that were like 'I'm a great teacher'. That's what they want you to believe. But in reality they're like ' I have no fucking clue what the fuck I'm doing.' I got the 'I have no fucking clue what the fuck I'm doing' kind of vibe off of him. It was pretty entertaining, honestly.
This is gonna be an interesting time, I thought, annoyed. I decided to tune him out, and just doodle characters into my sketch book. There was a very distracting movement that I saw out of the corner of my eye. I tried my best to ignore it, but it was a constant nag. Like whatever it was, they were trying to either do it on purpose or it's just something hanging. After a while, I decided to look over. And I saw someone waving. So they were trying to get someone's attention?... I thought, confused. I looked behind me. I didn't see anyone. So I decided to look back. They whispered "yea you, hi." I waved back and confused and said "hi?" They whispered again "Wanna talk after class to get to know each other?" I signed yes hoping they knew what it meant. They signed back o.k. Class went by so slow it felt like it took an eternity to end. I walked out forgetting about meeting the person, but they ran after me. "Wait up!" They said. "Oh yea I forgot I'm sorry" I chuckled slightly. "I'm Emerson. I go by they/them." I looked at their overalls and thought they are definitely in the LGBTQ+ community. I put out my hand and said "Hi I'm Alana and I go by she/they."
