The human psyche is a beautifully terrifying thing, it can do unexplainable things that we, as mere mortals, could never even begin to fathom an inkling of understanding. For it is far to complex for most to understand, how it can be manipulated effortlessly or be brainwashed beyond the point of return it can do extraordinary things but sometimes extraordinary is not always a positive thing.

As a child, like most do, Icarus loved stories, hanging on to every word at the edge of his seat. He never outgrew this, always choosing to believe in things others regarded as fantasy. His imagination was truly a spectacular thing to behold. However, others failed to see it this way. Choosing to stay wary of him.

When Icarus grew older, his imagination matured adjacent to himself. Normal people did not like that he still grasped onto that childish wonder and this became a target for the taunting of others, his Achilles heel, the constant jeering and bullying took a heavy toll on him, his confidence dwindled growing more and more reserved the isolation chipping away slowly at his sanity. Until he met him.

Lorenzo was his name, he insisted you called him this unless it was Icarus speaking. To Icarus he was simply Enzo. He was a boy around the same age as Icarus and was new to the school it seemed. They were instantly fast friends as if acting solely upon instinct. They shared the same interests as one another imagination and all. It almost seemed as if Enzo was made for Icarus. This lead to Icarus feeling he had to shelter Lorenzo protecting him from the constant bulling he knew Enzo faced however it may have been all in vain as it is inevitable that trying to shelter someone from something will ultimately lead to it becoming their hubris for both the males involved.

It was absolute paradise for both of them as now they finally felt that they could be themselves instead of putting on a fake persona in order to fit the mould of societal norms but Enzo had a secret.
