Stepping out of the compact plane, I stretched my sore body from the 7 hour flight I had just taken. Yawning I clutched my bag and began my way to the security check in the new airport. It was just as crowded as LAX had been, with all kinds of different people bustling around in fast paces, eager to reach their destination.
With Kaira on my tail, I made my way through the large crowds of people and stopped at the baggage claim to retrieve my bags. Walking towards the gates where I was told I would picked up, I sat down ok the bench next to my sister and waited.
A large sign was flashed before my eyes before I saw the words "ADDELINE AND KAIRA" messily sprawled across its neon surface in large bold letters. Frowning I turned to Kaira who had also been eyeing the sign. "You ready?"
"Addy, I'm scared."
"Kaira you got me here. There's nothing to worry about." Grabbing my stuff I started walking towards the large poster board ahead of me. "It may be a bit awkward or weird for a bit, but it'll be just like old times eventually."
I keep trying to assure her as we near the sign and see a tall boy leaning casually against the handrail. Shifting his eyes towards mine as we walk closer, he stands up tall and in three quick strides, he is right in front of us.
He eyes us suspiciously and my cheeks burst into flames. I am not a fan of people looking at me like I'm in need of inspection. Shifting my hair so that its laying sloppily across my face I give him a questionable glance. Clearing my throat I square my shoulders and point my chin up, preying to the lord that I look somewhat confident right now.
"Well?" I question eagerly. He looks at me for a moment, eyebrows furrowed. Quickly he takes a step back and looks away from us. What the hell?
"Excuse me, but if you don't mind id like to see my dad, and turns out you seem to be the only one who would know where he is."
"Right. Well sorry but you guys aren't the right people im looking for. Must be someone else."
"Well then do you know where I can find a Danny Lancaster?"
His eyes shoot back to mine and soon he's right before me again. His dark blue green eyes are glued to mine and a frown of wrinkles washes over his forehead. "It can't be you." He whispers.
I take a step back, shaking my head, making my wavy hair shake with me. "What?"
"You. You are Addy right?" I nodd slowly and stare at him confused. How would he know my nickname but not my dad? "Oh geez I'm going to kill him."
"Hey no offense dude but we were just on an eight hour flight and we'd love to be out of here. Thanks." Kaira speaks behind me striding over to where I am standing.
"Sorry, he just described you guys differently."
"Well I wouldn't be surprised, people do this magical thing of changing from kids to teens and sometimes if you haven't seen them in 12 years, they look just a bit different." Kaira bites back sarcastically while rolling her Ivey blue eyes.
"Chill out sassy. Your dad is waiting at home just follow me." Kaira sighs, mumbling a string of cuss words under her breathe and a let out a soft chuckle. The boy walks ahead of us at a fast pace, his long legs taking big strides as we fail to keep up with him.
Kaira leans closer to me before whispering. "First impression of this trip is going great."
I lightly hit her arm before replying back."Keep an open mind Kay."
She just shrugs and leans away, taking a larger interest in scrolling through Twitter as I move through the packs of people. After what seems like ages of waking, we finally emerge from the crowded airport to be greeted by the cold New York air.
