Safe House (Enemies to Lovers) Part 1

Start from the beginning

"Get to your point faster" he mocks

"Says the guy who can't stop talking" At this point you're simply annoyed being around him, it is exhausting, you love your job, but Spencer took a toll on you. Maybe that is why you enjoyed being alone so much, you could spend time in thought without the interruption from someone else.

"You both can save this for later, but for right now this situation right here is unsafe, we all cannot be in a room together. It is also not safe at this time to go home alone. We have arranged safe houses, everyone in the team will be paired up to go to these houses. From here we will work on the case together, but remotely, there is food, beds and basic necessities there. Hopefully this will not be too long and we can catch this unsub" Hotch explained

"Derek and Penelope, Rossi and I, Emily and JJ, finally Spencer and y/n" Hotch makes the pairs and gives you each files with all the information pertaining to the case

"Agent Hotchner, I respect your decision, but is it possible to get paired with someone else?" You ask reluctantly. Spencer looks at Hotch, although he doesn't speak, his face is conveying the same message

"You two are agents first, if you cannot work on this case together, you should reevaluate your positions here at the BAU. You will be working in pairs, the decision has been made. Please head to your safehouses" Hotch stands up and leaves the room with Rossi.

You sit at the desk, slightly in shock at Hotch's response, he was right, the dislike between you and Spencer cannot come in the way of the investigation.

"Are we going, or have you reevaluated your position here and decided to leave?" Spencer says standing up and collecting his items

"Never, only in your dreams"

"Yes exactly, dreams are where perfect sinceros come true, and in mine you leave the BAU"

"Aww Spencer, you dream about me?" You roll your eyes and quickly walk past him over to your desk to gather your belongings. Walking over to the elevator you step inside, just as Spencers bag jams the door

"You could have waited" he says stepping inside

"Sorry, didn't see you" you speak in a monotone voice starting straight ahead

You get in the driver's seat of the black van and drive to the safe house destination.

Upon arrival you examine the situation, it was a basic looking house with neighbours a few lots over, nothing out of the ordinary, it blended into its surrounding very well.

Spencer and you both retrieve your gun from its holster as you scan the area, unlocking the door you step inside and survey each room

"Clear" you call out

"Clear" Spencer shouts back

"We should look over the case" you say pulling out the file

"Do you remember these moments, can you think of anyone that seemed suspicious?" Spencer asks

"No, which is so strange, as an agent I am always aware of my surroundings. Why can't I remember seeing anyone" You rub your forehead in deep thought

You spend the rest of the evening trying to rack your brain for anything that may benefit from the case.

"I'm exhausted, I can't think anymore" you yawn

"That's not too different than your normal day" Spencer says standing up to grab a glass of water

"Honestly? Just stop, you're exhausting" you shake you head

Your phone rings its Penelope

"Hey darling, I hope you're doing okay, come up with anything?" She asks

"Not really, maybe check into who delivered the package? Speak to them and see if they remember anything. Also possibly check for people who are working at Quantico that may have some type of anger towards our team" you state into the phone, keeping it up to your ear as Spencer looks over at your from the kitchen, you avoid his eye contact

"Will do, don't kill each other okay, we see enough of that stuff already" She laughs hanging up the phone

"Has she found anything yet?" Spencer asks

"No" you state quickly standing up and going to examine which room you want to sleep in

"That's my room" Spencer calls out as you enter one of the bedrooms

"Why?" you say with a confused face

"Well the air conditioner is here in the living room, based on the way the draft flows, it will go into this bedroom, and i don't want to sleep in the drafty room"

"Oh my gosh, fine, I genuinely don't care" you state walking into the other room and shutting the door behind you

A few minutes later a knock comes on your door

"Mmm" you mumble

"y/n do you need the bathroom, i am going to shower"

"No" you reply back, you can hear Spencer's footsteps head to the bathroom and close the door. A few minutes later the water turns on.

You decide to grab a book and sit on the couch in the living room.

Hearing the water go off the door opens and Spencer walks out wrapped in a towel, hair dripping wet. You catch your breath for a moment

Ahh no, y/n, do not think like that, you thought he was attractive one time, a long time ago, now he just embodies everything you cannot stand. You mumble to yourself in your head

"Didn't know you were out here" Spencer says as he spots you sitting on the couch

You raise your eyebrows and shrug your shoulders with a tight lipped smile.

A few minutes later Spencer steps out of his bedroom and sits in the chair across from the couch

"What are you reading y/n" He questions

"Solaris, by Stainislaw Lem" you smile showing him the book cover

"Ahh, good book, it has been a while since i've read it" he laughs

"A while? To Spencer Reid that's like half a year" you smile looking back down at your book

"Actually more like five years six months"

"It's odd, being here with you, it feels like a dream, more like a nightmare. As if we are in another world" He looks around the room as he speaks

"We don't need other worlds, we need mirrors" you quote to him from your book, too tired to argue with him.

"I guess, there is bigger things going on than how unhappy i am to be here with you" he sounds annoyed

"I'm going to bed... night" you stand up and walk towards your room

"Yup, night" he says coldly

Laying in your bed, you wish Spencer and yourself could get along, it would be far better for your mental health and the working relationship with the team. You have tried to work with Spencer and get to know him, but he pushes you away. Somewhere along the line you simply stopped trying to mediate the situation with him.
