" Dr. Midoriya, your patient in room five is requesting to be discharged early... again." Izuku sighed, he knew exactly why the patient wanted to be released early. He stood from his desk and answered with " Thank you, Darci. I'll be there in a moment. Don't want to keep him waiting." The petite woman smiled and nodded, leaving him to himself in the office.
It didn't take long for the doctor to walk to room five. He arrived at the door and opened it, not bothering to knock. " Finally, what took so long?" The patient asked, irritation clear in his tone.
" Kacchan, I'm an ER doctor. I have things to do. As much as I would love to sit here and baby you for hours, I still have to do my job. And no, I'm not releasing you early. Literally, two days ago you couldn't even breathe on your own. You still have at least a few days so please for the love of All Might, stop pestering my nurses." Izuku was frustrated. He understood that Katsuki wanted to get back to work, but he had just sustained major injuries just days prior. Injuries so bad, he nearly lost him.
Katsuki groaned, laying his head back against his pillow. The pillow that he'd specially requested from home, Izuku's pillow. He swore it was more comfortable than his, but Izuku knew he wanted it because it smelled like him. " Babe, I'm fine. I just want to go home. I live with a doctor, shouldn't that be enough?" The blonde begged, desperate to scrub the scent of hospital off of his skin in his own shower.
Izuku ran a hand through his hair, dragging his hand down his face. " No, I'm the doctor. I decide when you're fine. And right now, the doctor, says you're not fine enough to go home. You may live with me, but I'm not a miracle worker. If there was an emergency and I didn't have the proper equipment to fix it in time, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I already nearly lost you once, I'm not risking it again. I'm sorry, Katsuki. I can't let you leave yet. I love you, I have to get back to work." Katsuki dramatically rolled his eyes, but Izuku knew it meant he was caving.
" Fine, but you owe me." The doctor laughed, looking at his patient.
" Katsuki, you have got to be kidding me. I literally saved your life, I don't owe you anything. However, because you are my boyfriend and I love you, I will baby you as much as you want when we go home." Izuku placed a light kiss on Katsuki's forehead and left the room to resume his previous tasks.
As the doctor roamed the halls of his workplace, he contemplated the days prior. Katsuki had been on the edge of death and Izuku was the one to save him. But what if next time, Izuku isn't there? What if next time no one can get to him in time?
He couldn't stop the tear that slipped down his cheek. It hurt him to think of how close he was to being all alone again. Izuku wouldn't be a doctor if it wasn't for his Kacchan. Let alone be alive without him.
However, as much as he wanted to cry, he had people to save. So he wiped his tears, pulled his shoulders back, and took a deep breath. He plastered a smile on his face and entered his next patient's room. " Good morning, how are we feeling today?"
" That's all we have for today, sir. You are free to go." The nurse grabbed her files and began to go through them as she sipped on the fifth coffee of her shift.
" Thank you, Darci. You're the best head nurse anyone could ask for. However, stop calling me sir, it makes me feel old." Izuku teased, grinning when he heard his nurse laugh. He was always happy to make her smile, she worked hard to make his life easier and he appreciated that.
Izuku made his way back to room five and walked in. When he saw Katsuki asleep on the bed, he decided it would be a good time to go home and quickly shower and grab dinner for the both of them. Quietly, he walked over to the bed and ran his fingers through the blonde hair. He left a kiss on his forehead and made his way to his car.
