The music was blasting through the house. The place, littered with pheromonal adolescents. Some people at the corner making out and drunk people sprayed on the floor like cactus. What sort of party is this? The first squad member Joanne laid her eyes on was Jordan.

"Hey, you came. I thought Cory said you weren't coming!" Jordan yelled over the music. Even at that it was difficult to hear him.

"Yeah I changed my mind. Where's Subomi or Jim. Have you seen Patricia anywhere too?" Joanne yelled back.

Jordan staggered. Joanne help steadied him. In that range of closeness she discovered he was drunk. "Pat-who? Subomi didn't come. He doesn't come to parties like this because of his grades." His tone dropped. "Well it's could be that or he's busy hanging out with Britney."

Oh, that must have been what Cory was talking about. Joanne placed him on the nearest couch. "Where's Amanda?"

"Probably somewhere around hooking up with Adrian or Cory."

Joanne flinched. "So Subomi..." she would rather not talk about Amanda or Cory right now, the idea of them doing anything together disgusted her. "He's with Britney? I didn't know that happened. Better still, how did that happen again?"

"Its a long story," Jordan gripped the cup in his hand so hard, his knuckles were turning white. "I just wished he didn't like the same person I like."

What? It came as a shock to her that Subomi of all people would like Britney. She didn't expect that at all, neither did she expect Jordan to be in love with her too. What was so special about this Britney girl that got men wrapped around her fingers, even Cory. Maybe her flaming red hair? Or pearl white smile? Or her hour glass shape. Yup, definitely enough reasons for anyone to show interest in a person.

She glanced at him. "Jim? Where's he?"

Jordan smiled. "He said not to tell anyone." Then he walked away with a cup of brownish strong-odour liquid in his hand.

Beer, Joanne thought. But there weren't any bowls containing beer on the table. Maybe Jordan had been drinking alone. Joanne started her search for - anybody. At least one person that she knew. Especially Patricia.

She passed by a man that resembled Jim a lot. But he was making out with someone that wasn't Patricia - so it couldn't be him. She walked back and passed by him again. Paying attention to his figure. Oh no, it was him. He turned back at some point and Joanne decided to leave in search of others.

Two people down. The only person she would like to avoid the most was Amanda in her drunken state. She was already a beast-like-human. Add that with alcohol. Not the prettiest scene. As luck would have it, she ran into the other person she absolutely didn't want to see at all. Joanne turned back immediately but it was too late because he had already recognised her.

"Snow White?"

She turned back slowly. "Hey Cory. What's up?"

He furrowed his brows. "I thought you weren't coming."

"And I wasn't. But I decided to and now here I am." Joanne leaned in. Cory had a strong odour emitting from him. Like Jordan. "Are you drunk?"

"Yes. I remember drinking three cans of beer." Cory said.

Joanne wasn't expecting him to say that. "You know you're drunk?"

"Well I'm not fully drunk. Just tipsy. I don't get drunk until ten cans. Then I just drop and sleep." Cory slouched against the wall. "I told you not to come."

"How do you not have cancer by now?"

"You can't have cancer from drinking too much."

"Oh you'd be surprised." Joanne shook her head. Clearly, someone didn't do his homework well. She said, "I came for Patricia. I'm leaving once I get her."

"But you said you wouldn't come, that's why-" Cory dropped on the floor.

Joanne turned to look at him. He was snoring heavily. So much for ten cans. Ever since Joanne had met him, she was always doing things for him. Even now when she was dragging his body to the couch. Fortunately for her, Jordan was still on the couch and so was Patricia. She must have fallen asleep on the couch some time earlier.

Joanne helped Patricia in entering the cab that took them back to the dorm. She pulled a blue blanket over Patricia. Joanne noted the golden necklace on her neck. At least Jim gave her before he started - whatever she saw him doing back there. Joanne got in her bed. It felt good to be back in it.

But it was pointless. She would have nightmares and end up not sleeping for the next seven hours so she laid awake. Wondering how her peaceful semester turned to this. She had a test but wasn't prepared for it - not by the long run. Patricia was her friend now. Her diary was still with Cory. Jordan and Subomi were in love with the same person or the other way around. One thing was sure - there was huge drama brewing.
