"Just curious." Cory walked around the room. He sat down by Joanne. "Hey."

"H-hey," Joanne bent backwards. He was so close to her. Their noses were almost touching. "Why are you so close to me?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you're acting sus."

"No, I'm like this all the time."

"You're only like this when you want something so what?" Joanne quickly added, she stretched her hand out. "My diary?"

"I'll give you when you're about to leave. And I don't think that's anytime soon." Cory groaned.

"Just till I see Jim."

"Why do you want to see him anyways?" Cory pressed.

None of ya business, Joanne thought would be a perfect reply. But instead, she said. "Something important."

Just then, a red haired girl walked right in. Cory had left the door open after the unexpected visitor. The red haired girl dropped her purse on the table. She winked at Cory. "Hi."

Cory jumped. He said nervously. "Britney, hiii."

Joanne's ears rung. Britney? "Hey."

"Hello." Britney regarded Joanne. She flashed her white set of teeth. "When do we leave?" Britney turned to Cory.

Joanne wasn't sure what to interpret by that. But she was pretty sure the phrase 'when do we leave?' had something to do with Cory.

The doorbell rang. Britney went for it. Joanne scoffed. She marched her way to Cory. "Care to explain what's going on?"

"In a sec." Cory escaped the fuming Joanne that would have murdered him in cold blood if not for the doorbell's timely intervention. "Jim! You're back." Help me, Cory mouthed.

What's going on? Jim mouthed back. "Yeah I am." Jim froze when he saw Joanne glaring at Britney. Oh, that was what Cory needed help with.

"Hey Jim." The red haired girl greeted.

"Hey," he greeted back. "Joanne good to see you. Let's go the sitting room." Jim said. He smiled at her as he led the way.

"But-" She tried to protest. Jim pulled her by the arm, hard.

"C'mon." Jim finally got Joanne to sit. He placed a small black box on the side table. "You hungry?"

Joanne shook her head. "No I'm good. Thanks." Then her mind when to Cory. That lying piece of trash.

"She came here to see me."

"Huh?"

"Britney. She didn't come here to see Cory. She came here to see me." Jim said.

"Oh," Joanne glanced back at the kitchen. Cory and the red haired girl weren't there. They had gone some where - probably the place Britney had been talking about. Jim was trying to cover up for Cory. "Okay."

"So... what's good?"

"I'm starting to think there's nothing for us to talk about."

"I already told you Britney came here to see me."

Jonne folded her arms against her chest. "Who said anything about Britney?" She shook her head. "No Cory, he's the problem. Does he have to such a playboy?"

"You know." Jim sighed. "He wasn't always like this. For me it was my girlfriend, for him it was his brother then mom."

Oh, but they're dead. Joanne thought. "What happened?"
