Chapter 12

"Wait, you? No friends?"

"Corey, please, just let me talk." He looks down and apologizes again. "Anyway, yes I didn't have friends. Usually people left me alone which I was fine, until the day Lola came." I pause for a moment, vividly remembering my childhood.

"She didn't do anything at first. She befriended everyone, and everyone was head over heels for her. Even the teachers were in love with her. Then the one day she started to talk to me, and was nice to me. Since I didn't have friends I accepted it without a second thought. It wasn't until the following week that she turned her back on me. She started be really mean to me, blame me for things in class that she had done, make the other kids be mean to me, the one day she even beat me up on the playground but she didn't get caught. When I got home from school both my parents were furious when they say my bruised face and bloody nose. I don't know what I did to her for her to do that... That happened for the rest of the year. When summer came my parents almost transferred me to another school. We couldn't find another school close enough to do so, so I was stuck in that hellhole," I pause and take a heavy sigh, feeling my hands start to shake.

"It's ok, you're fine." He puts a hand on my shoulder and I relax and blush.

"It was then third grade that changed everything. Belle had came to my elementary school. I sat in the back of the room, where no one sat with me. The moment she had walked into that classroom our eyes locked. I remember her pointing at me and saying in front of the class, 'I want to sit next to her!'. So, she sat next to me. She tried to talk to me but I was afraid to, since I was afraid she was going to be another Lola.
It wasn't until recess came and I was sitting on the bench alone once again, Lola and her followers came up to me and started to make fun of me. It wasn't until Belle stepped in and stood up for me. She told Lola to back off, and when she wouldn't she punched her square in the face, giving her a bloody nose. She cried so much and ran away to tell the teacher. Belle then gave me a hug and told me she would always be by my side. She wasn't lying..." I comment more to myself.

"So from then on Belle always stood up for me. She did get in trouble a lot, but it wasn't until the school realized that Lola was the problem and transferred her to another school. After she left everyone was so nice to me, even the girls that followed her. I decided to forgive them. And from them on, everything was alright I guess." I finally conclude.

"But now she's back." Corey adds.

"Yea, she's back." I huff out.

"What do I have anything to with this whole situation?" He questions.

"Well, the only thing I can come up with is she wants revenge and she's going to use you to do it. Plus, I can see that look in her eye that she likes you." I add, trying to hide the fact that I don't want her touching him at all. His face cringes in disgust and I snort. "So Corey. You have to be careful. She will do all that she can to get revenge. Be careful," I emphasize and he nods his head feverishly. I grab my phone and look at the time to see that fifteen minutes was left of school.

"Well we have fifteen minutes, want to walk around?" He sighs out since I made him miss his class.

"Sure, also I need to stay after for math. Could you stay too and drive me home after?"

"Fine by me." We both then unlock the door and quickly leave the bathroom, hoping no one saw Corey and think he was being a Peeping Tom.

After walking around with Corey, the final bell rings and he heads off in the direction of his math class, and I begin to walk to my locker through the crowded hallways, eventually arriving at my locker. I put my other textbook I grabbed earlier into my locker and grab my backpack, then closing my locker.

I begin to walk around as I watch the school slowly become more empty. I walk to almost every part of the school as I wait for a text from Corey. I turn the one corner down a hallway I haven't walked through yet. I look up from my phone and I stop dead, dropping my phone from what I saw before me.

Lola had Corey's arms pinned above him and his head pushed to the side as she kisses his neck, and I see his face in complete disgust as I see him squirm and whimper.

I dropped my backpack and charge at them. I grab her by the hair and screams in pain as I yank her off him, I see Corey slid on the wall, looking terrified and upset.

While still holding her hair I make her face me. "What did I just say to you earlier? Huh?!" I scream in her face. All she does is smirks at me.

"You got a sexy boy there. I would have gotten in his pants already. What are you waiting for?" She says to me with a taunting tone. I snap, raise my fist, and punch her in the eye. She stumbles back, holding her face yelling pain.

"I don't know how or why you came back, but I won't allow. If you don't transfer out of the school by next week I will tell the school you sexually harassed him and harassed me and I will have you expelled. Do I make myself clear?" She looks up at me, her eyes watering and the one I punched half close, but she nods feebly.

"Leave, now!" I scream again and she quickly grabs her things, and starts to walk away as quickly as she can. I look at Corey and walk over to him, seeing him holding himself and tears falling on his face. I crouch on the ground and start to hold him, petting his hair and whispering comforting words to him. He eventually calms down and looks at me.

"I'm sorry," is all I say to him, feeling guilt tug on my heart.

"It's ok Zelda. You finally stood up to her." He cracks a smile.

"Why wouldn't I? I really care about you Corey."

He hugs me tightly and I hug him back as we continue to sit on the ground. I start to rub his back and he hums in response to it.

I really do care about you, more than you'll ever know...
