nikou took you to a hidden gem for dinner which
set the pace and expectations for your evening.
the bistro was a place he often went to eat at on
his own, actually; a cozy little bistro with an
aesthetic that made you giddy about taking
photos. the food was amazing, of course, and a
little bit expensive. and nikou had offered to pay. 

he let you think he was alright with splitting the
bill, entertaining your huffing and puffing about
how it doesn’t matter if it’s valentine’s day or a
first date or whatever else for a little while, before
eventually taking care of everything. it was
attractive, to say the least, the way he had given
you a sweet smile and tapped his card on the
card machine. 

you were a little bit flustered. 

and then he took you to a bakery he’s been
wanting to visit, telling you all about the
valentine’s day specials they were having for the
day that he saw on their instagram. heart shaped
red velvet cookies with cream cheese filling, 3
layered strawberry shortcake in the shape of a
heart (and it came in a heart shaped container,
too!), and the classic chocolate covered
strawberries. 

you were defensive about payment this time
around, making sure the both of you had your
own individual baskets since you wanted to
bring something home suzume and the other
boys. he laughed at you, of course, and called
you cute; but he agreed since he respected the
idea of wanting to buy things for whoever you’re
going home to. 

then, after walking around the city together and
enjoying one another’s company, he took you
up a hill where another hidden gem of a cafe
was located. the two of you cozied up inside
over warm drinks before heading out to see
the city from up high.

“it’s pretty, isn’t it?”

you smiled and sipped your drink. 

“it is, yeah.”

“i’ve… never even heard of
this place--or well literally
every single place you took
me.”

“makes me wonder how
much of the city i don’t know
about.”

nikou chuckled.

“yeah?”

mikoshiba nikou
“it helps to spend a day out
on your own without any plans.”

mikoshiba nikou
“that and being curious and
bored.”

mikoshiba nikou
“i had to take time off to rest
because of an injury once and
i ended up spending an entire
afternoon just walking around
the city and following random
people.”

you laughed. 

“you’re kidding.”

“you followed people?!”

nikou laughed. 

mikoshiba nikou
“what! it wasn’t like i was
following them to their home!”

mikoshiba nikou
“just around!”

he gave you a gentle nudge and a cheesy grin.
