"I'll miss you when you're gone. You better behave and do well, okay? I'm proud of you," She tells me in a gentle, shaky voice. I smile back at her before responding.

"I'll miss you too. Don't make me sad about leaving you. But at least Lauren's here to take care of you when I can't. And I'll be back whenever I have the chance, okay?" I reassure her. She chuckles before nodding her head. Lauren turns the corner and smiles at our interaction.

"You packed up and ready to go?" Lauren asks with a hint of sadness. Lauren has been with us for the past three months. I wanted to learn to trust her around my grandmother since I know how these crooked nurses are. Maybe I watched too many videos online, but I wanted to be sure. She's a sweet soul. Only a couple of years older than me.

I nod and turn over to her. I approach her and give her a quick hug.

"I'm ready! I'm shitting my pants though, not gonna lie," I half-joke. She chuckles at my joke and pats my back as she sets down grandma's medication on the coffee table.

"You'll do fine. You're a good student and I'm sure you'll make good friends. I hope you can really enjoy the college experience! Have fun!" She encourages me. I smile as I watched grandma.

"I'll try if I'm not worried about her," I signal my head, pointing at grandma. Lauren sighs before shaking my shoulders gently.

"I promise I'll take good care of her. Don't worry. I'll call whenever I know you're free. You got your schedule down right?" She asks me. I nod and point in the direction of the kitchen.

"Yeah, I hung up a copy of it on the fridge so call me whenever I'm free! I'm serious!" I urge both of them. They nod in unison, brushing off my overly worried tone. I sigh one more time before speaking.

"I should get going. It's already ten and I get the keys at eleven," I state as I walk back over to grandma and give her a tight hug. I kiss her cheek.

"If you need some money, I have some hidden in one of your shoeboxes, okay? Only for emergencies," I whisper to her. She kisses my cheek as we're still in an embrace.

"I love you, do good. I'll see you soon," She tells me, ignoring my statement. I resist the urge to even tear up before I released her from my embrace and stood up straight. I give her one last smile before hugging Lauren goodbye and grabbing my keys.

"I love you guys! I'll call!" I shout before closing the front door. I stand for a minute before taking a deep breath. I walk to my car and get in, turning it on and putting my seatbelt on before putting the car in drive and pulling out of the driveway. The drive was about 45 minutes away from where I lived; Marley. I turned on some music to keep myself entertained. The trees passing by became a custom I slowly got used to. I hated driving for too long, whether it be me driving or someone else. I just hated it.

I pulled into the complex's parking lot, right in front of the stairs that led to the second floor. It was an open line of doors that didn't look like a regular complex. But it was clean and looks well managed. I had already seen the inside of the apartment before I decided to move in. The best part of this is that the monthly rent counts as a percentage of the tuition. It's essentially a dorm system because it counts for tuition. But it isn't a dorm. It's a regular apartment. I turn off the car before stepping up the stairs. I walk down the spacious hallway with apartment doors lined up and see the guide at my apartment door. I smile and shake his hand.

"Y/n? A pleasure to meet you! I'm Marlowe. I'm just a guide. Here to give you your keys," He nervously says to me. I look at him a little confused but give him an awkward smile before speaking.
