Chapter two

"Then where do you want to go first?" He asked me. I think for a moment and tell him that I had no place planned and we should just walk mindlessly. He agreed and off we went.

"So, you're scared of the dark?" Asahi asks me.

"Yeah, I know it's stupid," I mumble. "you see my parents always told me scary stories about it so I wouldn't be out late at night."

He looks at me with a smile. "Everyone has a fear of something. Your fear is rational and I see your point being your position in this kingdom. But you know what? Whenever you need help. Wherever you need help. I'll always be by your side."

"That's sweet Asahi though it's just orders from my parents" I tell him with a soft smile.

"I have sworn to protect you with my life and I shall not break that oath. Not just as your guard but as someone who cares for you. I just want to protect you. What I'm saying is, I don't want to protect you just because of orders. I like you, I-I think of you as a- a- f-fr-iend" he stuttered out.

My eyes light up and a smile was plastered on my face. A friend! He thinks of me as a friend! This is amazing! He's finally getting more comfortable around me! "Yay! You shouldn't just think of it that way, we ARE friends" I emphasize the word "are" just to show him that it was a fact.

I look to see Asahi blushing hard. He's super cute. He's adorable and I can't help but think that. I would do anything to see his perfect smile and his pink flushed cheeks. The cute shy look on his face was fun to bring out of him. I just really want to hug him and kiss hi- WAIT. WHAT. there's no way I was just thinking that. We had only known each other for a few weeks. Who knows what he even thinks of me. It seemed hard enough for him to call me his friend! Plus, I need to take the throne and marry a pretty woman. I know I'm gay. I've known that for a long time, but being a part of the royal family, the oldest son who is meant to succeed? I need to push those feelings aside and pretend I'm not who I am.

Tanaka could probably replace me though. The second eldest, middle child, straight as a ruler. Well a bendy one. He's had a crush on a guy before but right now he's head over heels for Kiyoko. I admit, she is super pretty and she's pretty close with my lil bro.

We ended up in a small market and I was picking out some fresh fruit and candy. "Hey, Asahi? Have you ever been in love?" I suddenly ask. He froze, just standing in the middle of the assail.

He just kind of looked at me. "No, I don't even have the slightest clue of what it may be like. As a knight in the castle I have no time or need for love. All the matters is that I do my job and protect you. You are the only thing that matters and occupies my mind always." He explained. It was sad. He never experienced anything nice all because he was cooped up in the castle with only one job, to train and protect.

He's never been in love. But even with the female knights in training. I want to change that. I want him to love me. Through his whole life, he's never had fun. Im going to help him experience that.

Asahi pov

Noya and I were just walking through the store but I felt so happy. The little butterflies fluttered around in my stomach as I looked around seeing all kinds of different food items and there was a little section for toys. Then I saw the candy. I've only had candy maybe once or twice when I was young. I stopped for a moment to look at it. I think Noya noticed. "Asahi, do you want any?" He asked me.

I look at him shocked. He would get candy for me? Well it wasn't just the fact that he'd get candy but the fact that he was willing to get me something. "I couldn't do that. You shouldn't spend your money on someone like me."

"I'm getting you some. Besides it's only a dollar per candy. Plus if we're going to the movies we gotta have candy and the stuff at the theater is way too over priced. Now then, what kind do you like?" He looked through the shelf's stock full of candy.
