You don't know what
to say to them.
You wish you could dry
the tears from their eyes,
and take all the pain away.
But you can't.
You can only watch,
words leaving you -
just like them.
It's your deepest fear,
isn't it?
You can't stand to see
another person go,
not when you've already lost
yourself.
Your head is light
from always having
to let go.
The world spins
and it falls,
scraping your knees,
bruising your bones.
You must wipe your own tears,
my darling.
For who else will?
come to such a pretty pass
